Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2 Full Version OEM for PC (E8504026)
I can only access thru safe mode. on start up after windows logo appears screen goes black same thing happens if i choose to go to last working settings cannot do a system restore from safe mode says it was disabled searched online told it might be a video card problem tried 2 different video cards same problem on those do not have disk to do a windows repair becasue it is in safe mode cannot do a windows update
If you can get video in start mode its not the video card ! It;s more likel;y a sytem file that is corrupted. If you have the skill and the original disk youn could try a system repair you will need to access the Bios and set up the boot sequence so thast the windowsa disk CD is the boot disk. set ATAPI in Bios to be the boot source and then let windows find its slow track to install, repair etc. If repaoir fails you may only be left with the option of deleting the partition the create a new one and allow windows top reinstall.
Before all that happens save any documents and pics or other data that you want to keep while in safe mode.

When you do a repair install, you start your computer from the Widows CD. After the initial items finish loading, the system will ask you if you want to try and repair the install that already exists on your hard drive, or if you want to do a new install. At that point you would choose the repair install. Depending on what is causing the original problem, the Windows CD may not see your original installation. If that is the case, then you must decide if you want to do a fresh install, or attempt to fix your original install in some other manner. One thing to consider; if Windows cannot see your original install, then you have a serious issue. Depending on how important the data on your drive is, you may be looking at having to spend a lot of money to have a forensic hardware specialist attempt to repair the drive. You may also want to have your local computer shop take a look at your system. Most shops have access to some very good tools that you would probably find to expensive to use once.

Just before the Windows 7 splash screen (black with windows logo) appears, press the F8 key to enterAdvanced Boot Options.
You should now see the Advanced Boot Options screen. If not, you may have missed the short window of opportunity to press F8 in the previous step and Windows 7 is probably now continuing to boot normally assuming it's able to. If this is the case, just restart your computer and try pressing F8 again.
Here you are presented with three variations of Windows 7 Safe Mode you may enter:
