Re: DVD read is not working

Try a different disk in the unit and see if it does the same thing. If it still just makeing noise without any thing playing then you have a bad laser/pickup and it will require replacement.

I have a toshiba equium a300d that wont read disk

The lens in the DVD drive maybe dirty, gently clean the lens with a soft cloth.
If this does not fix the problem then the drive maybe faulty and needs to be replaced.

This indicates that you media (CD/DVD) cannot be read/is not recognised by your notebook drive: to make sure that you have a working drive, try inserting a know good CD/DVD. If this works, then you may have a compatibilty issue either because of the media used (eg. brand especially with Rewitable device) or the format of the data on your media (is your drive capable or reading both CD and DVD). You can assess the compatibility issue by using another computer/notebook to try to read your media.

My disk drive is not working i am trying to down load a new program and when i put the disk in it will read it and then error appears

Hi saratrought, if Windows XP runs and you have read problems in CD/DVD drive try to read another disk, if any other disk work fine then you need to copy your CD/DVD info (or program) in another new disk.

Or just use Windows Explorer to try copy all data from CD/DVD disk to a New Folder in your Hard Drive and then from that location you can try to install your program, if your data don´t copy well then again i tell you that it´s your disk not your CD/DVD drive.

Data disk read as blank disk

This may be a reading media incompatibility problem. This does happen with some DVD/CD players.This usually mentioned in the owners manual of the product. You can try looking under the instructions for the operation of the DVD/CD player in the manual. If you cannot find the information there,you can try using the internet search engines for the make and model number of your notebook and the type of DVD/CD discs you are using. Use the search engine for known problems with the use of the media with your type of notebook DVD/CD player. You can also call Lenovo customer support telephone number 1-877-453-6686. CD DVD drive won't read application disks like Photoshop, Vegas

Either they put in a bad mother board or damaged yor DVD drive. Maybe they even put in the wrong unit. In any case I'd send it back to them.

Tecra M2 doesn't boot is it a processor problem?

given the symptoms, it points to motherboard.. if it was processor, video or ram. it wouldnt boot at all and you'd just get error beeps from your laptop. i'd first try resetting the bios, by removing the bios battery for 30 min, then putting it back in. if that doesnt work try changing it out, usually costs under 8 bucks. if that doesnt work then I would change out the motherboard, if its cost effective.

Dvd player problems

When you put the DVD in the player, are you snapping it onto the spindle? You have to do that with notebook PCs, but not with desktops.

Dvd wont read

Cd/dvd drive

check your device manager for dvd drive .chekc it is found or not.
open your dvd lock in right side of laptop.then reattach it.

also go to bois setup and give first boot option to dvd.then if u have bootable disk then try to boot with dvd.
then if u boot the sys then your dvd working properly.
then your os driver problem try to uninstall driver and rstart sys.

DVD drive cannot recognize DVD disk, but can read other CDs

I'm assuming you have tried a different dvd also and no joy, but it may need a lens clean or it is unable to read dvd anymore as the tracks are closer together than a cd and the alignment of the laser is faulty. Notebook roms are replaceable but only mainly from your notebook manufacturer. You could also use an external dvd writer via usb, although this then doesn't make your notebook as portable, if you need to read a dvd disc.
