Wifi is not working while iam using in windows XP operating system

Hi Sivakumar133,

Some reasons why wifi stops working is due to corrupted driver or defective WLAN card. There are some ways on how to diagnose this problem, just reinstall the driver and configure it again with the wireless access point. You can download the WLAN driver for this particular system by visiting this link. You will notice that on the Networking Wireless LAN section it has 2 types of WLAN card, Broadcom and Intel. Just try to install the Broadcom driver because this is compatible with XP. If you're not sure what is the model of your WLAN just check it under device manager and look for Network adapter. After downloading, install the .exe file then restart the system. You can now configure again the computer to your router.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I have format my laptop presario c702tu in windows xp and i don't have wlan driver

HP has no LAN drivers for XP on their site. They list 3 different drivers for Vista depending on what manufacturer's chip they used. You can find XP drivers for each manufacturer at their respective websites.

Intel PRO drivers are here.
Realtek drivers are here.
For Broadcom, go here. There is a process for determining which chipset you have and links to the driver you need.

You can use the procedure shown on the Broadcom page to determine which manufacturer's chip is in the computer and then go to the site you need.

Another option is to purchase a USB wireless adapter and use that instead. It would come with the drivers you need and avoid any possible compatibility problems you might have with trying to use the integrated LAN. HP designed the computer intending it to be used with Vista. While the original manufacturer's drivers usually work, the computer maker doesn't guarantee their hardware will work properly with drivers not supplied by them.

I have a hp compaq nx 9000 notebook and am unable to connect to a WPA encrypted network. I'm using the wireless adapter that came with the notebook and it's listed in the device manager as LAN-Express IEEE...

it sounds like somehow the WPA was turned off . Can you reenter your internal router and re-initailize the WPA setting for your laptop, if there a setting for WPA And WEP together ,check that box. Hopefully that does the job.. good luck

4 Click the Windows Start Button on the taskbar.
5 Type Network and Sharing Center into the Search box, and then click Network

6 Click Add a device to the network and follow any onscreen instructions.
For more information about setting up a wireless network:
Click the Windows Start Button on the taskbar, click Help and Support, and
then type Setting up a wireless network into the Search Help box.
NOTE: If no WLAN device is listed, either your computer does not have an integrated
