Re: No color on my T.V., before when the T.V. would warm...

Sounds like the signal board may have a problemn OR If the signal to the set is low it could lose color burst. If you are using a cable box .. try removing it and hook the cable direct to the TV and see if any change. If the set works ok without the cable box that box may be the problem.

My Sony KP-57WS500 TV has curved horizontal white lines. You only see them when there is something dark on the screen. Any ideas?

You have 3 CRTs inside of your TV that create image. Blue, Green and Red. Looks like one of them need adjustment due aging.
Remove front grille. Than remove center "shielding" piece held by 4-5 screws. Behind this cover you will find little black plastic box that have 6 rotating buttons on it. Take you time to study them. There is three columns and two rows. Columns represent color, rows - "Focus" or "Screen". You need to locate "Screen" row of three rotating buttons. They will be marked "B', "G", and "R" for colors accordingly. Turn on TV let it warm up and try to figure out witch color is dominating others on your screen. Then carefully turn rotating adjuster counterclockwise using Philips screwdriver. Try to muscle-remember original position of screwdriver so you can turn it back to it.
Eventually you will find the right one, you will see lines dissapear when you reduce voltage and reappear when you turn rotating shaft back. Sometimes more than one have to be adjusted.
Try to have all three color to be present and visible but with no over saturating and no horizontal lines.
Put cover and grill back - and that's should do it!

How do i adjust color screen is bright need to darken

Hi there,

You can adjust brightness by following these simple steps:
1) Press the MENU/SELECT button on the remote to show the on screen menu.
2) Press the CURSOR RING RIGHT to enter the PICTURE sub menu.
3) Press the CURSOR RING DOWN repeatedly until the EYE FIDELITY control is highlighted.
4) Press the CURSOR RING RIGHT or LEFT until you select the option you want, either PROGRESSIVE or INTERLACED.
5) Press the STATUS/EXIT button to turn the menu off.

Helpful Hint
- The Eye Fidelity control is not available for use with AV4 and AV5.
- You may want to use the interlaced option to enhance programs containing a lot of motion.

Thank you for using FixYa! Have a nice day and please remember to rate this solution.

Warm regards,

Yellow and blue color ruins total picture on 50" tv,can't get rid

I'm no expert, but I think that you have a problem with the convergence of the 3 color guns. I've been working on a similar problem. As a first step, have you tried "Magic Focus?" The Magic Focus button for the Hitachi 53UDX10B is at the left of the small front panel controls that also include your RCA composite and SVideo connectors. Let the set warm up for about 20 minutes (as recommended by the user guide), and then press the Magic Focus button. When you press the Magic focus button, the set will auto align the 3 color guns. If this doesn't fix your problem, unplug the TV for at least 4 hours and try again.

LG 52SX4D-UB color problem

After numerous hours of searching the internet and purchasing a new color wheel I found the real problem. If you replace a color wheel or even the lamp you need to be able to get into the Service Menu. This is something that the repair technicians don't want you to know. With the tv that I have the original owner was told by a repair tech that it would cost about $800.00 to repair. After the tech left the problem was worse than before he got there. After getting into the Service Menu I found that the Contrast was cranked up to 115% and the color wheel setting were way ! way !! out of adjustment. This sounds to me like a repair person trying to make some fast money. I am posting this proceedure so that others will not have to go through what I and the original owner have gone through. Also here is a link to the site that I found this information. They are a good reasonable site for a soure of parts.

Instructions for resetting counter:
1. With the TV on, press and hold the MENU button on the TV front panel.
2. While holding that button, press and hold the MENU button on your remote.
3. Hold both buttons for ~5 seconds until the service menu comes up on the TV.
4. Release the remote MENU button first, then the TV MENU button.
5. Press and hold the ENTER (or OK) button on the TV front panel.
6. While holding that button, press and hold the MUTE button on the remote.
7. Hold both buttons until the Lamp Life Hours show up on your TV screen.
8. Release the MUTE button first, then the ENTER button on the TV front panel.
9. Make a note of the lamp hours if you want.
10. To reset the lamp hours, press the SELECT button (the one between the four arrow keys with two concentric circles on it) on your remote.
11. It will ask you to confirm the reset--press SELECT again to confirm.

To verify you've reset the hours, you can repeat steps 1-9 above and then just press the EXIT button on your remote.
