Vivint security system says the batteries are weak in one of my smoke detectors. I replaced the batteries 2 times but system continues to alert us. Can I remove that one completely out of the system?

After you put it back up, hold the test button in so you hear three beeps, three times. Or remove it from the base plate and put it back.
If that doesn’t work, call Vivint and have them walk you through removing and re-adding it back into the system.

Alternatively they might need to send a Technician

SOURCE: my smoke/carbon monoxide detector keeps

My Smotec 3786A indicates not to install it in above 85% humidity.
One of my three seems to go off annually or so and this is what
recently put it down to. I was making an espresso coffee on the
stove and it generates a lot of steam and off goes the fire alarm.
I did change the battery to no avail.

What causes continual beeping

With some smoke detectors, this indicates a low battery. Try putting in a new battery and see whether it stops beeping. If it doesn't add a comment to this question and specify the make and model of your smoke detector.

Two first alert smoke detectors go off for no reason. All are on 110 with good batteries. Have had these for approx. 12 years with no problems until now when 2 of the 7 have gone off many times in the last...

There may be dust built up in the sensing chamber. This can cause alarms to go off for no reason. Try vacuuming the alarm off particularly around the sensor if the cover is removable. These alarms should be replaced however, as they are more than 10 years old.

One of the alarms is peeping every 30 seconds. Why and how do I stop it?

Normally this means the smoke detector's battery or batteries are getting weak and need to be replaced. Since your detector incorporates carbon monoxide detection it could also mean the sensor that measures CO is going bad. Most units with CO detection have a life expectancy of 8-10 years. If your unit is that old I would suggest replacing it. Hope this helps.

Hi,

Can you pleas ensure that you have cleaned the unit as well. If it is not broken, that would be the probable cause. You can ask your local fire dept. to assist. They do that for free :-)
