Sounds like the Freezer Fan is wearing out or is worn out. This fan problem is very hard to detect. The reason is that when the motor is starting to wear out the fan will spin, but at a much lower rpm. This is enough to keep the freezer cold. but will not ciculate enough air thru the freezer and the refrigerator to prevent freezer from and refrigerator from cooler. The cost to repair/replace this fan is a minimum of $300.00

Testimonial: "Your solution was right on the mark! The fan was spinning but not fast enough (according to my repair guy). Thanks again!"

Danby fridge old model - freeze working but fridge section does not

Yes it has a fan you should here it and feel it. It sounds like your defrost coil may have gone out. Take the back pannel of the freezer off and see if it is clogged with frost.

Model C/ISO. Freezer working. Fridge light on. Why doesn't it get cold?

Clogged coils can cause poor cooling. Check to make sure nothing is stuck in the condenser fan and that it spins freely (models with coils on the back won't have a fan). To do this, unplug the fridge and pull it out. Clean the fan blades and spin the fan by hand to see if it's stuck.

Some fridge freezers take the cold air from the freezer and moves it into the fridge via small duct in the back of the inside of the fridge and freezer . Empty frige and freezer , take plug ouy of wall and carefully remove involved panels taking note of any mechanical valves and order for reassembly. Clean and clear all airways and check for any blockages . Over loading of freezer can also obstruct airways . Whilst you are doing this you will allow a good defrost time for fridge and freezer airways . Hope this helps

Refrigerator section which is on the top is not cooling, however the lower freezer section is working and making ice. Fan in refrigerator section does not seem to be working. Maytag mod#mbf2254HEW

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. The fan should spin freely when you spin it. You can check the fan plug for voltage to see if it's getting power with the door switch pushed in. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it'll be the control.

Maytag Model RSW24EOD. Not cooling. Frost on freezer back wall

Low on freon or there may be accumulation of dust and dirt on the coils of the condensor. To check to see if the coils are dirty you need to remove the bottom panel of the fridge just below the frige door. Once you pop off this panel take a flashlight and look under the unit. You will see what looks like a radiator with a fan and fan motor in front of it. If these coils are blocked the unit will not cool since this is where the heat goes from the fridge to be dispersed. Clean the coils with a coil brush (purchased at any hardware store) and use a wet/dry vacuum to remove the debris. Once these coils are cleaned it will take about 12 hours for the unit to operate properly.
If the coils are clean already then you possibly have a compressor that is low on freon. I would check the coils first since most of the time this is the cause of the problem.

Good luck on your repair hope this helped you some

Fridge isn't cooling, freezer still works fine. I cleaned the coils and vent thing on the back last night and still doesn't want to cool the fridge compartment.

3 thingsto check. If you didn't adjust the damer from the freezer to the refrigerator, like closed it off. Is the freezer fan running. The fan blows air from the freezer to the refrigerator section. Some fans shut off when the door is open so you may have to push in the door switch to check this out.
Look for ice on the back wall, of the freezer section, if present then the defrost cycle is not working. The evap. coil is icing up and there is no air into the refrigerator.
