Question about Garden

We have just purchased a john deere 2140 B reg. it seems to have a bad oil leak on the hydraulic system. the position of the leak is in the centre of the vehicle directly below the drivers seat. it drips about every 10 to 15 seconds. the front loader and draft arms judder when in use. we are told this is due to low oil pressure. is this correct? any suggestions on this problem please? shell

Probably oil from the pto output seal.
Also they leak from the inner linkage arm seals.
Both reasonably easy repairs, seals readily available.
System holds a lot of oil and low oil will affect the hydaulics and steering.

This problem is probably due to old or worn pipes.
Inspect the whole system, and look for oil patches, and fresh oil stains.
The sure tell tale signs.
Replace any that are in bad condition.
Oil pressure will then return to normal.
(Once refilled:)

How do I increase the hydraulic power in my 1985 john deere 1050. Speed of hydraulics is fine. Just changed oil and filter with no difference

Power in a hydraulic system is perceived as Pressure ! there for more power is more pressure , id use a pressure gauge plugged into a remote port , to test your pump . an 85 id bet sure has some wear to pump , pressure for that id suppose should be right about 1200 to 1500 psi at 1050 rpm , if its less than that you could have pump rebuilt or replaced

do ck all the simple things 1st , filter, belts, hoses ,leaks

Why is hydraulic fluid not coming from the back axle to front pump on my john deere 2140

Generally oil not getting to a pump means an air leak or low oil level. Not knowing your exact system I can only recommend the steps I would take which you may have allready done. First check all fittings between the back axle and the pump for tightness. Look closely along each tube or hose for a spot of excessive oil. This could be a hole or cracked line that can suck air. If nothing is obvious then pull the pipes or hoses and carefully look at the seal surface of the fittings for cracks broken o-rings or dirt. It does not take much of a crack or dirt to suck air. Any manifold connections or sub plates may need to be pulled to check for gasket issues. Some systems have a charge or scavage pump in the rear end. you may need to consult someone who knows the system to figure out if yours has one.

My john deere 316 stopped moving forward and reverse and the hydrolics stop on the blade. what could cause this?

HAVE YOU CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION/HYDRAULIC
OIL? THEY ARE THE SAME. ON SOME TRACTORS THIS
CAN BE CHECKED AT THE REAR OF THE TRACTOR JUST
BELOW THE SEAT. IT COULD ALSO BE A BAD HYDRAULIC
PUMP.

Where's the hydraulic oil fill for a John Deere 3020? Is it next the seat? What's the hydraulic system oil capacity? What type hydraulic oill would you suggest?

The oil fill cap is just above the oil dipstick at rear of tractor.
the capacity of the system is 4.5 gallons.

John deere 2140 had gas put in it instead of diesal what going to happen

Don't run it until you've completely drained and flushed and refilled the fuel system, tank, lines, pump...
Don't run it! Diesel fuel is more of an oil whereas gas is more volitile... Avoid starting or running to prevent any damage to your engine!

Blue smoke hard to start no power john deere 2140

Sounds like you have a piston ring ring problem or valve guides worn. Both will cause blue smoke and hard to start. If you don't know how to do a leak down test then you'll have to give it to someone who does. The leak down test will determine if it's the rings or the valves. Also, check to make sure you don't have too much oil in crankcase

Good luck.

My John Deere 2010 tractors lift does not work. I am note sure of the oil level. What is the correct procedure? Where can I get a free service manual to download?

Here is a link to the John Deere web site for the manuals.
http://www.deere.com/servlet/com.deere.u90785.productcatalog.view.servlets.PublicationsSearchServlet?userAction=publicationsSearchResults&entryPoint=other&tM=FR&searchCriteria=2010&submit=Search&language=english

Also,
The hydraulics on a 2010 are part of the transmission oil system. There is a bolt looking plug on the right side of the transmission, about half way up, about where your feet rest when your foot is not on the brake. Fill up the transmission until the oil is level with the top of the hole and is about to run out. Using HyGuard hydraulic/transmission oil or one that meets the same spec for the 2010.
