Why my computer wont turn on?

Sometimes there is a reset switch on the bottom of the laptop, which I'm assuming is the type of computer you're referring to. Check the bottom for the word reset with a little hole by it. With the charger plugged in and working, push the reset switch for just a second or two with a small pen or pointy object, then press your main power button and see if that works.

When I hit the power button it wont turn on. I have replaced the RAM with a known working DDR400 1GB stick, no fix. Tried switching power supplies, no fix, tried new videocard since when it was last on (a...

When you say the CMOS is set to reset, this should not be the case for normal usage. and maybe the problem if left in the on position the system will not start (which sounds like your problem).

That's a chance you take whenever you flash an eprom. "chip". The only thing that you can do is send it out to one of the numerous companys on the net that fix that sort of problem. Or buy a replacement eprom chip. There is no other solution the chip is now corrupted. You can try to roll back the rom if the machine wouuld boodt but otherwise yu are out of luck, sorry,

Computer wont turn at all worked fine the night before moniter works no lights dvd door wont open

if the unit worked last night and now it will not turn on then it's one of two issues. first we need to look at the unit are there lights or can you hear a fan running . if so your motherboatrd has failed , and the fact that most dell mobo's have intergrated video you couldn't see anything at that point. two if there is no lights or fans running and you can not open any drives then your power supply has filed . decide witch one and let me know if you dell is still under warranty i can call and do a warranty claim and get them to send parts and a tech if not give me the service tag number and I can find part numbers for you . hope this helps

Compaq presarios s5500uk wont boot up fitted new motherboard, pentium e5200 processor. existing hard drive ide seagate barracuda 7200.7 120 gbytes os windows xp

check the power supply: unplug the main connector from the motherboard, plug in the ac/mains power cord and switch on the on/off switch if any located on the power supply, locate the GREEN wire on the main connector that plugs on the motherboard, using a small length of wire insert one end into the plug where the GREEN wire is located and the other end into a BLACK wire on the connector. the power supply should power on if it is good: you will see and hear the fan turn on in the power supply. if it is good remove the wire and re-plug it.if it is not good replace the power supply. also check that the 110/220vac swithch is in the correct position for your mains you have a floppy drive connected to the system? if so un-plug it and try again,re-check that you pluged the power button switch connector on the mainboard correctly,

PC wont boot

The first thing to do would be to remove all non-essential hardware from the box, I mean everything. This will help isolate the problem.

Then remove all the RAM except the very basic amount. If it still doesn't work, swap out the installed RAM with the RAM you pulled possible and try it. This will isolate a RAM issue.

If that doesn't do it, you may also consider swapping out the video card. Before we go any further, try these things and report back.

Good Luck!

Wont power up!

May be the battery is dead (i.e. uncharged). Connect to an electric network and try once.
