What is your model number? Not all fridges have electrically controlled dampers. It may just be a bad evaporator fan motor.

The problem is that the damper isn't working properly. It is supposed to open and close to send cold air from the freezer to the fridge. Open the door to the fridge, and look for the vent, close the door switch, and see if you can feel cold air coming out of the vent.

Either the motor that controls the damper is broken (most common) or the control board that sends power to the door to open and close as necessary is not sending power.

I have the ED2FHEXNQ00 side by side. Is there a solution to the freezer not keeping food frozen when the unit is in garage where temps go below 30 degrees. Can I insulate behind it or put a thermal...

Insulating it might work and may be relative. The condenser is the place the where condensation takes place, where refrigerant gas turns back into liquid under pressure. Outside temperature plays an important role in the condensation of refrigerant and if it is too cold, of course, condensation may not take place normally. You need to reduce the flow of air through he condenser fins by disconnecting the condenser fan. Disconnecting the fan will cause a rise in temperature and presure in the condenser that may be conducive to better condensation providing the garage temperature is very cold; the cold air in the garage will be enough to keep the condenser from overheating.

On the other hand, you can install a simple temperature sensor on the condenser fins that can control l the fan. Fan would turn ON when condenser temperature is too hot and OFF when ambiant air around the condenser is too cold. The best temperature sensor is one with a sensing bulb and one that can be adjusted. With a little know how you can solve this issue. It will work if you use the right temperature controller. Remember that all you need to do is o connect the temperature controller on the condenser fan circuit. Provided that you know "Control" this should be easy. Get help if needed.

I have an iced diamond fridge freezer. Turned off unit to defrost freezer. When I turned back on freezer works but fridge never got cold again.

check t ensure that the fan inside the freezer is working properly if the fan is not working inside the freezer then your refridge willnot get cold also if you pull off the back panel inside the freezer you wil see the holes that the air pushes through to go into the fridge section make sure these holes are not blocked if they are your fridge will also not get cold hope this helps if you need a new fan motor for the freezer try marcone appliance uyou can find them online and they directly mail to your door

Fridge not pumping any cold

All your cold air for the fridges comes from your freezer compartment. If you are haveing ice build up in the freezer comparment there may be an issue with your defrost circuit.

While the unit is in a cooling mode open the freezer door and listen to for the fan running in the freezer this is the evaporator fan that circulates the cold air to your fridge compartment if it is not running replace it.

If it does run try and check your defrost circuit and make sure the unit goes into the defrosat cycle

NOT COOLING. FAN RUNNING. LIGHTS WORKING.

But I'll bet the compressor isn't compressing. A couple things: Did this just up and quit or has it gradually been going? (Mine did this and it was the compressor) Is this a refrigerator that's out in your garage where it's much colder than normal? (Mine has done this before as refrigeration units don't normally work well in the cold.) Is there sufficient air flow around the unit? (This happened to my freezer when someone put a sheet of plywood next to the vent that the freezer compressor uses for air circulation)

Fridge/freezer not working but light is on,located in garage, which iss v cold

Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay.
Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

How to check stuff>

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

Not all refrigerators are insulated the same and not all condensers are in the same place. Your cold control is monitoring the temperature of the refrigerator section and is designed to turn off the compressor to keep things from freezing in that section. If it stays cold long enough outside in your garage the cold control thinks its cold enough and won't turn the compressor on. A makeshift closet to hold a little heat the unit generates will probably help.

Refrigerator/Freezer not getting cold

Is the fan on the condenser coils spinning? (back side of unit behind the bottom access panel.)

If it is not, the heat extracted from the fresh food/freezer compartments is not being sufficiently dissipated.

As a short-term fix, you can aim a box fan (a regular ol' room/window fan) at the condenser coils.

Bottom wont stay cold top frezer it work bottom ref. wont saty cold and the light work and the fan blowing so im looking for why it wont stay cold at the bottom reg.

make sure you don't have the air flow passages in the back of the freezer blocked with food items or frost. if you have alot of food or items in the freezer and its packed tight it won't let the cold air circulate into the bottom unit

Frigidaire Freezer Runs Warm in Cold Weather

hi there the problem you have is that the temp in the garage is to low, the fridge part of your fridge freezer has priority and will only activate the compressor when req'd ie. in cold weather the fridge may not need to switch on the compressor for days at a time this is when the freezer will defrost.
All you can try doing is having some very low heating in your garage in the cold weather

hope this is of help.
