Re: forwarding from seimens 5830 how to get access

You havent suggested what site you are wanting to forward one of your routers ports too, most people make this request for torrent download and/or gaming experience/improvement. Either way you need to know what port the software you are wanting to open a port for is currently using so you can tell your router which port to allow unchecked access.

I use this very informative support website for port resource info, click this link and choose your router type, in your case select Speedstream-5450 which will be the same setup as the 5830

That should take you to this page

Then select the software you are wanting to open the port for.IE: Utorrent or world of warcraft Etc... That will then open a detailed walkthrough on setting up rules for your routers port activity. You will need to follow the guide for each port you open, if the guide is not listed for the exact software you are using just read through the one supplied for Utorrent and change the port numbers to the ones you are using.
The software you are using should show you what port is in use at the time you are using it, some software may use a different port everytime you open the software or allow you to allocate a port permanently (which is not recommended safe internet practice especially if your ISP supplies your connection via a STATIC IP address, most use a DHCP allocated IP address)
Failing that you can find the port currently in use information using the command prompt- for winXP and Vista type c:/netstat-b for win2000 type c:/netstat-p Look for the software you are using it will be on the left hand side and look something like [Utorrent.exe] follow the line of info too the right and look for the 4-5 digit port number.

Wheeeew, Good Luck :0)

I need to access a web server externally via port forwarding. i have a smcd3gnv

Do you mean that you need to access an server on your LAN from the outside world ?

The manual is on the second result of a google search for smcd3gn and the table of contents has clickable links.

The machine you run any inside server on needs a static IP address ( for example) and you configure the gateway so that your outside request to address and port ( gets mapped to your inside machine's IP address and the port you are running the server on ( for example.

If you are only using one internal web server just map port 80 to port 80 along with the inside IP and you can omit the port number in the external URL. (If you are running more than one server you should be able to figure it out.) Remember to disable external access to the router's configuration if you do this because that also runs on port 80.

My example mapped outside port 8080 to inside port 8000 just so they would be different. Remember that one outside port can be mapped to a single inside address and port. You can run two inside machines with a service on their own port 80 but they need different ports on the WAN interface.

How do I access my Comcast Cisco DPC3000 to enable port forwarding? I am using a net gear router that is set up for port-forwarding but my modem seems to be stopping it from working

Go here. That site will direct you how to do port forwarding specifically for your router in pictures, or it will allow you to download a program to do it automatically for you.

Windows home server remote access - cant get it to work

It's probably not about RDP. I think we are talking about the homeserver remote access that allows you to up/download stuff to/from yourshares, run the server console or remote control a workstation in your homenetwork from outside (from the internet).

The whole procedure is a little complex. In short, you have to:
- start remote access in the WHS console (settings - remote access)
- create and configure a dyndns domain name (or something similar) to find your server from outside
- configure the user profiles to allow remote access. They need to have "strong" passwords.
- forward the port numbers 80, 443 and 4125 to the servers IP address on your internet router.
- forward the port 3389 too, in case you want to use the RDP protocol to access the servers remote desktop.

That should be it.
If you have several routers in your net, you have to forward the ports from the first one to the second and from there to the home server.

Since we don't know where exactly you are stuck, you should post a little more information.

Hope this helps.

Port forwarding tg782t to allow remote desktop

your firewall might have an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) which locks your network if programmed to detect unwanted ports. Work on your firewall first. hope this helps..

modems are now shipped with the Hardware firewall turned on low to block things, and also Telnet..

Turned it off and then it should also all fixed.

there is methods of hacking this unit as well

Step 1: you have to make sure your IP is set to

Step 2: Go to »···retain=f and set "All Items" under "Profile Configuration Access" click next and choose "Do not require admin login"

Step2: Go to »···retain=f and do the same thing, except type as your "Constant Profile IP Address".

(if everything went ok, you should now see the new configuration page)

From here, you have to access every configuration page manually.

Here they are:

» - DHCP
» - Dynamic DNS (what francoisr wanted)
» - IP Passthru
» - Update firmware
» - RAS config
» - Port forwarding
» - DMZ Config

Port Forwarding

there is a way for you to port forward to anything that you would want, the only thing that you would need is the port numbers in order for this to work. Using terms.

1.) In your address bar, type in, "". And by default, your username should be blank, and your password is, "admin".
2.) Once onto the mainpage, look up at the top of the page, and go into advance.
3.) And then look on the left hand side, and click into a tab that says, "Forwarding".
4.) Fill in you information/chart.
a.) Easiest way to find your ip address is to go to, "Start"(bottom left of your screen), click "Run", and then type in, "ipconfig/all".
b.) Enter in your Start and Exits ports like I said in the beginning.
d.) And then click "Enable" box, and click, "Apply" at the bottom, and your done!

Cisco cva 122

PAT/NAT has to be configured to forward port 21 to your PC's IP address.
Have you had a look in the config/management page? If it supports this, it'll be there...
