There are 3 little clips that will push back at the top end of the keyboard, you need to wedge a small pin or screwdriver into the edge of the keyboard and push each one asy you work along.

The keyboard of my laptop came off

Just put it back. Make sure the cable under the keyboard is plugged into the motherboard. The keyboard is secured by either:
1) The strip above the keyboard

2) Little catches on the side of the keyboard (palmrest has the catches).

3. Screws on the bottom of the laptop (most times the screws that hold the keyboard will have the icon of a keyboard next to it).

4. Screws in the Battery Compartment that holds the strip above the keyboard or screws for the keyboard (the keyboard icon will be next to the screw most times).

How do I remove acer aspire 9810 keyboard,I have removed the base cover and screen assembly but I cant fugure out how to remove the keyboard Thanks in advance Peter

to remove the keyboard, remove the screws at the back of your laptop. Then remove the Hard drive, then remove the Optical drive then remove the video card, and then power supply. Then remove the fan from the motherboard and you may remove the screws on top of the keyboard. Finally you may replace the keyboard.

Laptop keyboard doesnt work, extensa 5220 laptop . keyboard keys do nothing, boots up fine , and mouse functions fine, can get on facebook , but cant type anything.

Either something got spilled in it or the connection ribbon got jossled lose. The top power bezel should be in with clip snaps. Remove it then the keyboard should pop up after you lightly squeeze the sides in. Look under the keyboard there is a ribbon that connects with a lock snap. Lightly push the lock clip up and push the ribbon back in and snap the clip back on. Do not put it all together yet try booting it apart and try the keyboard. If it still doesnt work power down remove battery unplug it and finish removing the keyboard order u a new 1. They run around $20 brand new.

I just bought a brand new Acer Aspire One and have keyboard issue

It's most probably a shipping damage. The keyboard is connected to the mainboard using a very thin and very breakable plug. They use this kind of plus so that they can save up space. You should get another laptop or a full refund since it is not your fault.

I have opened and worked on several laptops over the years. I can tell you that there are many things you have to remove sometimes (depending on the brand and design) in order to replace the keyboard. Unless your comfortable doing this I would suggest taking it to a computer repair shop. I'm sorry this is not really the answer you were looking for, but It can get complicated sometimes. You will enjoy your computer sooner and if a shop changes it for you, then they will have to warranty their work if something goes wrong. Could be to your benefit. Thanks!

I need to replace the keyboard on an Acer Aspire 3680 series laptop

Hi there.
Remove the laptop battery and the AC power supply, open the lid as far back as you can take it.
Get a small flat headed screwdriver, now, you have to take off the keyboard bezel, this is the strip of plastic above the keyboard with the power button on it, the best way to remove it is to start by the on/off button by gently prying the bezel up from the lid hinge, once you have one side out gently pull it up using your fingers, it will unclip and lift away.
Next you have to remove 2 screws from the top of the keyboard, these should be visible to you, once the screws are out carefully lift the keyboard up, you will see a ribbon cable that is connected to the motherboard, gently pull the tab up on the connector that the ribbon cable sits in and it should release it and you can now remove the keyboard and replace it.
To re-assemble just follow my direction in reverse.
Please post back with the results and for any additional advice if needed.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!
