Is it a commercially sold DVD or one someone burned? If it is one that someone burned then you may need to find the right codecs for the file type used for the video. You could always download VLC media player which works with many different media file types.

And, I actually JUST noticed you said watching a "movie" and not specifically a DVD. However, all of the above could still help.

I got a film which I like very much, but I want to cut the last 2 minutes down, I used Windows Movie Maker, but it didn't support MP4 format videos. How can I edit mp4 videos on my computer? badge-alt-exclamation.png Maybe you can try another video editor - AVS Video Editor. It is a professional video editing program which can create your movie with a few simple drag-and-drops and enhance your videos so that they have professional look. It also supports almost any popular formats such as files in AVI, MP4, WMV, 3GP, QuickTime, DVD, VOB, etc.
Now we come to learn how to edit MP4 videos with AVS Video Editor.
Step 1: Download and install AVS Video Editor
Download AVS Video Editor, run AVSVideoEditor.exe and follow the installation wizard instructions.
Step 2: Launch AVS Video Editor and load your MP4 video
Run AVS Video Editor. A new empty project will be created automatically. Press the Import button within the Main Library pane to load the MP4 video file:
start-working-with-video-editor-1.png Select your MP4 video and press Open:
start-working-with-video-editor-2.png The selected MP4 video file will be added into the Video category of Main Library:
start-working-with-video-editor-3.png Step 3: Add your MP4 video to the Timeline
To apply different effects to your video, you should place it to the Timeline area, first of all. So, select your video in the file area (enter the Video category if you are not in it) and without releasing the left mouse button drag it to the very first row of the Timeline and only after that release the button to drop the video there
start-working-with-video-editor-4.png Now all the preliminary actions are done and you can proceed to add transitions, apply different effects, lay text and other videos over the main ones, dub episodes and create DVDs with menus.
More information ,please have a close look at the video editing software

Just got on windows vista and on google chrome been having trouble opening files i have downloading more movies. i could only get easy bittorrent wouldnt let me open u torrent or nero 7 which i am use

Movie files have codex attached to them which your program you use to watch them may not have loaded. Check to see what program is opening the files. The Google the file type to see if your program can open them. You may need to download another program or the proper codex to watch the movies.

How to plug harddrive into USB and watch movies

What kind of hard drive do you have? If it doesn't have a USB end, then you need a special cable to do it. Depends on what kind of hard drive you have, SATA - USB or IDE - USB. And not all TV with USB slot supports movies through USB, some models supports only music/pictures. So make sure your TV supports movies through USB too.

Downloaded file from Itunes i now want to convert it to play on TV using AVS Video converter and it says file is protected

Hi. It sounds like you have downloaded a movie with the digital rights still attached in the file.
AVS won't create the movie for you, it is an anti-bootleg protection.
If you really want to turn it into a regular playable dvd, then you need to download FREE DVD CREATER.

It will convert your downloaded video files to DVD, and it doesn't block out video with digital rights

I hope this helps you out.

Computer want show my home movies or dvds im sure its a drive issue.

Most likely you don't have the correct CODEC that will play these files. Click on the link below, it is for a FREE media player that will play all media types including home made DVDs and dvds that would buy or rent, like at NetFlix. Just copy and paste the link to the browser address bar and download the file, click on the installer and select all for media types.

Just purchased an acer aspire one, can get movie from external dvd play playback on media player & power dvd 8 but not sound. sound plays on cds & everything else, plays on movies downloaded online...

AVS DVD Player is a free universal player that I put on all Acer Ones that I sell. It is an excellent player, that can go full screen and handle every format. It will even play VOB files which are dvd files "ripped" from dvd discs. I have never had a failure with this program....

Dont know how to use AVS video to ipod

you video needs to be converted before it goes on your ipod.
download your video. if it is not the video format that will work on your ipod the you can open your
AVS converter, choose the video to convert and set the avs settings to what you need for the ipod and convert the video. Video converters are slow and take a long time.
the ipod will play .mpeg and .h264 video files.
the mpg files are the most popular and pobably can just beuploaded to the ipod and work.
the H264 is an Apple Quicktime format which takes up less space but you will almost never find a video in this format.

and oh ya, this is a free techincal support website, no one is scamming for money here so chill out

JVC .MOD files Can not edit them when converted to avi,wmv etc.

So you mean you just rename the file? That is doing nothing then it is actually making the file almost useless. That isn't called converting as well. To convert you can download any one of the many programs out there for converting formats such as this. Here is an example
Thanks and enjoy,
