Hi,
The reason for your Kenmore washer not to agitate or spin is due to a bad drive coupling.
Your machine has no belt. It has a direct drive coupling. The direct drive coupling between the motor and transmission must be replaced
Let me try to help you fix this on your own. First unplug the washer and turn off the water. If you have a shop vac take the drain hose out of the drain, and through the drain hose vacuum the water out of your washer. If you don't have a shop vac go to the auto parts store and buy a pair of radiator hose clamps. Then facing the washer locates the two screws. They will either be in the front or rear of the control panel or back them out far as you can. Once you have done that pull the control panel slightly forward, and tilt it back on the hinges. Now unplug the lid switch wire but don't forget to plug it back when you’re done. Next locate at the rear of the washer body the two gold clips then push forward, and take careful note of how they fit. Then pop them out with a screw driver tilt the washer body forward at 45 degree angle and walk forward with the body, and set it down. Now you will see the white pump and motor assembly. You should see two clips holding the pump to the motor pop them off, and pull the pump off the motor shaft. Now if you feel the need to remove the pump use the radiator hose clamp. Take them and clamp the hose coming from the tub but it’s not necessary for the repair. Next disconnect the wiring harness from the motor (note the position of the harness for reassembly). Remove the two 5/16 inch screws from the motor clamps and pop the clamps off. Once that is complete, remove the motor put the new coupling on the motor and transmission shaft. I use a socket and a hammer to tap it on the transmission shaft. (put the rubber piece on then the motor now you got to be patient here some are easy some you must play with). Once it slides in pop motor clamps back on replace motor clamp screws.

My washer will agitate but won't spin nor drain.. what is wrong with it?

Check the lid switch. It is common for them to go bad. Check to see if it clicks when pushed down. the switch can cause the washer not to spin or drain.

How to fix a Washing Machine if it Doesn?t Agitate

If your washer fills with water but doesn’t agitate, the problem is likely to be a faulty lid switch, a broken belt, or a problem with the motor. (Note: Direct-drive washing machines do not have belts.)

1) Check the spin cycle. If this works, the motor is operating and the belt is not broken. If it doesn’t, the belt may be loose or broken. If you’re fairly handy, tighten or replace the belt; otherwise call an appliance repairperson.
2) Check the lid switch and the tab on the lid that strikes it. If the plastic tab is broken, the washer may halt during certain cycles. Press and release the switch. If it doesn’t click each time you do this, it’s probably broken. If you’re experienced at home repair, you can remove the switch, test it, and replace it if needed; otherwise, call an appliance repairperson.
3) There may be a problem with the controls, or the agitator solenoid may be broken. Call a repairperson.

My candy GOFS262 washing machine is filling the drum to the top with water on every cycle but doing nothing else after that, the clothes jst sit there in the water, I've left it to see if something...

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Motor Coupling If the washer won't spin or agitate the motor coupling might have failed. The motor coupling connects the motor to the washer transmission. It is designed to fail if the washer is overloaded in order to protect both the motor and transmission.

Drive Belt If the washer won't spin or agitate, check the drive belt. If the belt is broken or if it isn't tight on the pulleys the washer won't spin or agitate properly.

Drive Motor If the washer won't spin or agitate the drive motor might be defective. This is not common. Check all of the other related parts to this symptom before replacing the motor. If the motor is visibly burned out or physically damaged, replace it.
Stator Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the stator assembly might be burned out. The stator is essentially one half of a motor, it interacts with the tub by creating a strong electro-magnet. If the stator burns out the washer won't spin or agitate. Check the stator for continuity. This part is often misdiagnosed.

Door or Lid Latch Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Motor Control Board If the washer won't spin or agitate the motor control board might be defective. The motor control board provides power to the motor as well as direction and force. If the motor control board is defective the washer may not work at all or function properly.

Whirlpool LSQ9544KQO won't spin

if it fills with water and then nothing check the lid switch,if it's bad it won't do anything but fill, some will agitate but then no drain or spin, the easiest way to check it is open the lid a few inches and close it,do this a few times,if you don't hear a clicking sound the switch is bad,or open the lid and stick a screw driver into the hole on the right side where the strike from the lid goes into,if it doesn't click when you push it down and let it up it's bad, part number 3949237 and it's around 50 dollars.watch this video,it's a different lid switch but changes out the same way.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFsvLiuTniU
you can also stick a jumper wire into the two outside wires to check it,flip up the top console, you'll see the lid switch connector on the right side plugging into the top of the frame, unplug it,stick the jumper into the connector that unplugged from the frame and it will have three holes in it,the middle is ground so stick the jumper into the two outside holes, set the timer to drain and pull out the timer,if it starts to drain and spin then you know the lid switch is bad.hope this helps.

Kenmore washer 80 series stopped draining

So it will agitate and fill but the motor won't run during drain and spin?
If so, the likely cause is a bad lid switch. The paddle that the probe hits when the lid is down moves a small switch. That switch can do two things
1. fail internally. It will look fine outside but it won't close the circuit
2. the screw holes snap and it hangs off the wires, the probe no longer hits the paddle and the switch stays open.
The lid switch is cheap and very easy to repair.
