Problem for Laser 3115cn All-In-One Printer

I cannot setup the scanning to file/server function

I tried a lot of combinations in the server/computer adress book setup. But all with the same result: FTP/SMB Error.

This is my current configuration is:

Name: Server (just a random name for the adress book I guess)
Type: SMB
Adress: 192.168.159.10 (no \\ or anythinh needed I guess)
Port: 139 (also opened both ways in my firewall, even though it should not be needed due to internal traffic)
User: scanner (added to the useraccount interface in our Windows Server 2008, added as a administrator to rule out any problems with permissions)
Password: XXXX (added and checked, this is the accoutpassword for the "scanner" user I guess)
Resource name: scanner (here I've choosen the name of the shared folder. I've also tried the networkadress \\DBSRV1\scanner but without any luck.)
Serverpath: c:\scanner (also tried \\DBSRV1\scanner but with no luck)

What is actually the difference between the resource name and serverpath?

Well, with this settings the scanning starts, the document goes through the feeder and then it beeps and say "SMB/FTP error, 016-783"

I cannot figure out whats wrong and Dell support say they don't offer support for configuration (!!!!!). What to due? Where to start troubleshoot? I thing I have a couple of so called double errors, so when I fixe one problem I have change so many other values that a new appear... so many combinations and so bad documentation...

i see a few thing wrong here that the dell printer does not like

First in our 3115 setup i do not see a "Resource Name" entry
we have Server Address, Share Name, Server Path

For the Server Address I put in the IP address (it would take DNS or WINS out of the picture if they are not setup on the printer) teh server address would be the PC where the shared folder resides.

The Share Name is the share that you are sending it to. my guess it appears that you created a shared folder called Scanner. if that is so then the the word scanner would go there (no "\"s)

the Server path would be if inside the Scanner folder you sectioned off like users names. then you would put in each different users the folder inside the scanner folder. such as "\Mike' or even if it was deeper "\Mike\Myscans"

but mind you the server path is not needed in your case it looks like you are dumping all the scans into the scanner folder so you can leave the Server Path line blank

Hope this helps
