If you have fuel and spark, you need to check and see if you have compression,if you have no compression you timing of you valves is off. timing chain or belt is broke

Set carb after putting a new kit in

Hi, Herbert the carburetor throttle shaft wheel has two cables the cable closest to the right side of the bike is the throttle cable and the one closest to the left side is the idle cable. Right about the middle between the two is the idle adjustment bolt it faces out towards the air filter end of the carb . The engine should be at operating temperature with the enrichener off to set the idle between 950-1050 rpm. Turn the idle adjustment bolt clockwise to increases idle speed and counterclockwise to decrease idle speed. If you have access to your air fuel mixture bolt you may adjust it as well if not there is a video below on how to gain access, make sure you start with clean or new spark plugs. Gently turn the air fuel mixture bolt clockwise until it starts to bottom out "STOP" do not over tighten as it will damage the taper on the end, now back it out 2 full turns to establish a starting point start the engine and check the idle rpm's and adjust the idle adjustment bolt accordingly for 950-1050 rpm if necessary, adjust the air fuel mixture bolt 1/4 turn at a time and let the engine settle for about 10 seconds, clockwise for a leaner mixture and counterclockwise for a richer mixture you are seeking the highest rpm your air fuel mixture bolt can acquire without going past 3 full turns from bottom then readjusting the idle adjustment bolt back down to 950-1050 rpm If you can not detect any rpm change and can not stall the engine by turning the air-fuel mixture bolt all the way in then your pilot/low-speed jet is too big. Final adjustment should be made with a clean air filter mounted to the carburetor. Good luck and have nice a day.

MS 310 chainsaw wont keep running

If you have a spark and compression it only leaves fueling/air problem.
to reset carb to standard settings screw both H and L screws right in. then unscrew the anticlockwise (L) 1 full turn. (H) 3/4of a turn, that should set it back to standard settings.

2000 Yamaha V-Max Idles low then takes revs

Hi, Shaneharris5 you need to make sure you have no intake leaks by spraying some Brake Kleen, Contact Cleaner, Starting Fluid etc. around the intake manifold and seals, if the RPM's go up or down significantly then you have a leak that needs to be fixed before you can continue with the carburetor adjustment.
The engine should be at operating temperature with the enrichener off to set the idle between 950-1050 rpm. Turn the idle skrew clockwise to increase the idle speed and counterclockwise to decrease the idle speed. If you have access to your air fuel mixture skrew you may turn it as well, if not there is a video below on how to gain access, make sure you start with clean or new spark plugs. Gently turn the air fuel mixture skrew clockwise until it starts to bottom out "STOP" do not over tighten as it will damage the taper on the end, now back the skrew out 1-1/2 full turns to establish a starting point start the engine and check the idle rpm's and turn the idle skrew accordingly for 950-1050 rpm if necessary, turn the air fuel mixture skrew 1/4 turn at a time and let the engine settle for about 10 seconds, turn the skrew clockwise for a leaner mixture and counterclockwise for a richer mixture, you are seeking the highest rpm your air fuel mixture skrew can acquire without going past 3 full turns from bottom then resetting the idle skrew back down to 950-1050 rpm If you can not detect any rpm change and can not stall the engine by turning the air-fuel mixture skrew all the way in then your pilot/low-speed jet is too big and needs to be replaced with the next size smaller. Final adjustment should be made with a clean air filter mounted to the carburetor.

I have a huskey chinesaw model 50 trying to adjust carb but haveing no luck what is the proper adjustment please help

Hi, Gerald I will try to help. The high speed mixture screw basic setting is about 1 1/4 turns out from lightly seated position and the idle or low speed mixture screw is about 1 turn out from lightly seated position. To get the manufacturers basic or start out setting, remember the position of the screws before you start any adjustments. Both are done the same way. Turn adjust screw in or clockwise until lightly seated (so the soft metal is not damaged when seating the screw) then turn out or counterclockwise, high 1 1/4 turns and low 1 turn out. Do any adjustments in 1/8 turn increments until you get running. Do not turn the high speed mixture screw so there is less than 3/4 of a turn from seated position, The reason is not to run the engine too lean so engine does not overheat. When turning the screw in, there is less gas in the mixture, therefore when turning out you allow more gas in the fuel to air mixture.
The problem might not be adjustment, it could be many other things causing it not to run properly. Make sure the air filter is clean, the fuel filter in the tank is not plugged up. Spark plug might be fouling up, the fuel lines might have dirt or starting to go. The fuel tank is usually vented by the tank cap and might be plugging up not allowing enough air in. Check the bolts screws and gaskets of the carb so there is no air leaking in.
The carb might need an overhaul, cleaning and maybe a carb kit.
These are suggestions to help diagnose the problem. I might have forgotten other things to check out. I hope this helps you out a bit. All the best and good luck.

Will not start has a spark, but a lot of fuel in the muffler cleaned the screen and emptied out fuel ..do I need to add new fuel ..carb cleaner ?

Yes, add fresh fuel. You may need to crank the engine while holding the throttle at wide open and no choke to start unitll excess fuel is burnt.

Overfuel or 'rich' condition
Basics to check:
1) Spark plug - brown or dark brown - OK
a) is it carbon or fuel fouled
b) is there spark

2) Muffler remove for inspection
a) exhaust screen clean or plugged
b) inspect cylinder wall/piston as the flywheel is slowly rotated
3) Check Air filter for fuel saturation
4) Allow engine to run for 5 minutes to remove excess fuel from muffler
5) Fuel mixture ratio: Make sure the oil mix is per your manufactures recommendations
6) If after the above the engine is still smoking and blubbering:
Adjust carb mixture screws to a 'less rich' setting
*NOTE: only move mixture screws 1/8 of a turn at a time,
and try operation before any more adjustment

My honda 400 bros is not runing right 1 plug is wet the rest is sutted up as if runing rich what would think it is

Sooted plugs proves tht the air-mixture is too rich.(too much fuel going to the combustion chamber)
You have to set the air-mixture screw on the carb/s.
Clean the carb/s, replace 'inline' filter , if you don't have one ..install one, reset float level.
It's better to also check the valve clearance too.
Fit in new plugs (gapping them to specs.) and run the engine to its normal temperature thn set the air-mixture screw...standard setting....all the way in i.e. tighten it slowly to the end making sure not to damage the tip of the screw, thn 2 and half turns outwards to 3.
Start the engine....run to normal temperature and thn reset the air-mixture screw +/- either way.
Hope this helps!

I have a 82 honda cb750f. The bike runs fine with the choke on full. But with it off it pops and kicks. The tank is clean, the carbs are sinked. The carbs are clean in the bowl area. The previouse owner took...

Standard jets for the CB 750 are 120's, popping and kicking are usually due to running lean which is probably why it runs great with the choke on as that riches it up. I've run 115's with no problem but 100's??? Maybe was trying for better fuel mileage when gas was $4.50 a gallon?

Bike wont start

Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two screws down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each screw one and one half turns outward. Clean the air filter. Install a new stock NGK spark plug.

Please rate this solution. Thanks!

Husqvarna 400 e series- I mixed the fuel 40-1 instead of 50-1

Hi
If you have good compression and spark at the spark plug try priming the engine(put some fuel mixture in the spark plug hole),set the carb adjustment(highh speed H=3/4 turn and lowspeed L=1 1/4 turn, turn the scews clockwise until the end and then set them.Try to start the engine. If it runs only the gas you puted inside the cilinder and then stops you have a fuel delivery problem to find and fix.First disassembly ,check and clean the carb. Then the fuel filter and the hoses.Let me know. best regards savumihai71
