Question about Haier Heating & Cooling
I have drained it completely and cleaned it inside and out. It works fine in FAN mode, but when I turn it on COOLING mode it shuts off when I change the temperature to 72 and the compressor tries to come on. I purchased the original one in 2013 and they had to replace that one with a new one in 2014. Now it is 2017 and this one no longer cools. Is this the normal life span for these Haier units?!?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

The fan motor is getting hot and going off on the internal overload in the motor.
This is caused by either a low voltage, a bad capacitor, or tight or dry bearings in the motor.
To check the bearings turn the power off to the unit, then spin the fan blade if it spins freely then the bearings are ok.
To check the capacitor you will need some kind of tester or you can buy a capacitor and replace it, that's what a lot of people do. They usually don't cost very much.
To check the voltage you will need a voltmeter and measure the volts at the unit.

This is a single speed permanent split capacitor motor for the condenser. One of the capacitor wires shows infinite resistance to hot and netral. The motor needs to be replaced.

I managed to find the people who supplied the unit, it was still under warranty, and they said it was the thermistors (temprature probes, they replaced both of them) It is now working perfectly!

Check if the condensar ( outside fan unit) is getting enough free ventilation. IF there is no free air flow you will mostlikely be triping the unit due to short cycling. Ie the unit is pulling its own discherge air causing the compressor to trip due to high back pressure
