TV won't recognize PC through HDMI port anymore

Thanks for all the background, super detailed! I had a similar problem on a new Samsung that was really flaky with my HDMI from a raspberry pi. Would have to do all kinds of unplugging, cycling power etc like you're doing to get it to work. Once on it would work until I turned the tv off (actually doesn't turn off, but goes to sleep) and back on. Finally figured out that the resolution I was outputting wasn't supported, BUT sometimes it would work. Once I changed the resolution to a supported resolution it worked all the time.

The TV model is Sanyo DP32648. DVR Cable Box - Motorola DCT6412 III I have a DVR cable box connected via an HDMI cable to the TV's HDMI 1 slot. I have had the TV for around a year now and haven't had...

If you have the DVR connected to the TV with the Coaxial and the HDMI that is probably causing the problem I work for a Cable company and have dealt with this problem on numerous occasions. Try just disconnecting the Coaxial cable from the cable box that should fix this issue.

PS3 Console switches on for no reason. I turn it off and sometimes 5 minutes later, sometimes 4 hours later it switches itself back on.As it is connected to the TV by HDMI it switches on the TV as well....

What most likely is causing this is another device grounding back to the PS3. Note with modern electronics they have contact switches. The work by competing the circuit to turn the device on or off.

So to test to see if it is a device causing this or an actual problem with the PS3 is to unplug all connections from the system. This includes your HDMI connection. At this point all you should have plugged in is the power cable.

Let the system set to see if it turns on. If it does not then we know it is not the PS3 that is the problem. Next start adding back in the other device until you figure out which one is causing the problem. Note I have had seen several cases where people had bad HDMI cables so you might test those first.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions

I just bought a Yamaha 5.1 system with rcvr RX-V365 i have HDMI to tv then HDMI to RCVR then another HDMI to DTV. Problem cant seem to get picture AND sound together through RCVR. depending on what setting...

RX-V365 doesn't support sound over HDMI. It can switch the video+audio from HDMI in to HDMI out, but can't play the sound through the speakers. You need to connect the audio separately via optical or coax digital cable.

Ps3 works on hdmi but not on rca jacks ???

Sometimes its a pain to re hook up the cords if you are stuck in HD mode and tryin to go back to Regular or Vise Versa, power off the ps3 press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. that will switch the video card back to default settings.

Marantz SR6003 wont pass the video signal to the TV. Audio plays from the source, but no video. All HDMI cables

The Sr 6003 is not HDMI version 1.3a. and, it's not upgradeable via a software patch. What has everyone up in arms over this issue is that it's "HDMI"'s fault not your manufacturer. All AV receivers pre 2008-09 have 1.2 or 1.1 which does not work. The problem is what's called HDCP compliant. It's the movie and dvd makers crying about copyright protection. All you can do is to run HDMI direct from your DVD, Cable Box, etc. to the TV, then run Digital Coaxial or Optical to your receiver for audio. I know this is NOT what you want to hear! sorry!. We all have this problem! Hope this explains it for you. If you want more "Techno" on this issue, post a comment and I can get you anything you need.

HDMI stopped working with computer

HDMI connectors are very bad soldered inside the set,not easy to resolder for an amateur ( if you are an amateur offcourse )
Other option is the HDMI cable itself.

No sound

The Philips DVP5982 has an odd menu setup for the HDMI sound.
If you get sound from the analog outputs from the unit, but no sound when you use the HDMI output, use this procedure to see if you can restore it:

On the remote control, press Setup.
- Right cursor to the Audio Setup Page
- Go down to Digital Audio Setup
-Right cursor, to get to the screen that shows

Digital Output
LPCM Output
HDMI Audio Setup

Try to go up to the Digital Output setting- if you can't , and instead it shows only HDMI Audio Setup with the "On" highlighted in blue, this is the quirk:

Go into the HDMI Audio Setup, and select "Off", and press Enter, so it's highlighted in blue.

Now it should let you go into the Digital Output menu selection, where you may find it to be on the "Off" setting.

Select "All", and then you can go back to the HDMI Audio Setup and set it to On again, and it should now output sound from the HDMI again.

For some reason, they decided to lock out the Digital Output settings menu when the HDMI Audio is On- go figure.

So you need to turn off the HDMI sound before you turn the sound on.. ;)
