Depends on the make & model of your machine (which we do not know). Some machines have that capability, others don't.

Crazy question but do you center the needle? Always sits to the left

Don't know about your particular model, but maybe left is the normal "resting" position. When on zigzag it will move to the right then back to the left. As long as all of your different stitch patterns keep the needle between the limits of the hole above the shuttle and does not hit the machine bed then I would best guess everything is fine.
Hope that is of some help.

Bernina 930 change needle position

Look at the knob which creates the zig-zag stitch (1-4) at the top right of your 930. In the center of that is a silver knob that rotates right and left. That silver switch moves the needle position right and left.

I cant get my needle position to move to the left or the right

The long arm is attached to the needle arm.
1. Move the needle arm right and left with your finger. Is there any resistance? There should be. If not, a spring that is supposed to be attached to the long gray rod has came loose.
2. The spring will be attached so it pulls towards the round cogs (bumpy things).
3. Mechanical sewing machines are very similar. There is a possibility that your adjustment lever has screws came loose.
4. By moving the needle arm back and forth you can monitor what is going on to get a clue of what may be wrong.

The needle always moves to the left. How do I keep it centered?

On some machines, there is a needle position setting, or a stitch selection for left, right and center of the needle position.

How to change the needle position?

it is posssible that the left position is the correct position for general stitching. Moving to centre or right may come in when using zigzag stitch. If it is sewing as it should I would leave it. If it still bothers you then take it in for a service at an accredited sewing machine repair specialist.

Pfaff synchromatic 1217

All of a sudden the buttons on top of the machine, produce no patterns. They still push down, but it only sees in a straight line...I then noticed my needle will not move clear left. It moves right real good, almost center, but not quite, but will not go left.
