SOURCE: rewiring mootor from 230v down to 115v

Diagram for aosmith motor b381 is here: http://www.electricmotorwarehouse.com/IMAGES/B381_connection.htm

However, I believe that this motor will be more efficient at 230v depending on load conditions. At 115v this motor will draw more amps and tend to run hot, but situation rules. Enjoy

Hi,
Is there a coverplate where the wires come out of the pump? If so, remove the plate and there should be a wiring diagram inside.
Good Luck

SOURCE: HVAC Blower Motor Replacement

Ain't nothing to it. Slide out the blower and take it outside. Use some rust buster to get the blower out. Don't beat on the shaft. Spread that shaft and the wheel won't come off. Use a rubber mallet. Most generic blowers have white as a common wire and the speeds are black-hi blue med and red, for low. 2 brown wires will go to the capacitor. other wires will reverse direction. Wash the housing and blower wheel good. any wire unused will be taped off to themselves. Nothing to it.

SOURCE: i need to replace the

Yes, that is a run capacitor. You will also need to clarify oval or round design.

You should take the old one in to a local electric motor repair shop if it is not obvious it is blown. Even if it is, their will be other issues that caused the capacitor to fail in the first place. You will want to try to identify those and fix them as well or you will be replacing the capacitor again soon.

Motor not working.

You need to find out what is causing the capacitor to short and "blow up or smoke". Then you will have to replace the capacitor again or the motor will never start up. Sounds like you either have a dead short or you bought a faulty Capacitor. Not uncommon for a 220+ volt Capacitor to be bad right from the factory. I replaced two Capacitors before I had a quality one, but after I replaced it twice I have had no more problems. Make sure to grease the motor through the grease fitting on it. The life of your motor depends on it.

I have a older spa with a Sta Rite pump motor. Without removing the damaged pump I was able to see the model number of the pump through a mirror. I beleive it reads K48M5A3, is there any way that you can...

That would definitely be the model number. The K indicates Capacitor start and run, the 48 indicates the frame size, and the "M" indicates horsepower (1.5 hp, in your case). If your replacing the motor, make sure you get the same Horsepower and Service Factor ratings. Hope this helps. If you need further assistance post a reply in the comments, and don't hesitate to leave a good thumb rating if you found this helpful. Thanks, and good Luck!

Pump makes a noise for about 10 seconds then turns off. Wont pump. Repeats this over and over

Try a start capacitor. or if the pump won't turn by hand take the pump apart and make sure nothing is broken inside. If still nothins it is probally a bad motor and you will need to replace.

Can you tell me what kind of torque a 1 1/8 hp 115 ac ge motor has?

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

Not a GE but the numbers should be very close...

Load (% of horsepower) Torque (OZ-FT)
0.25 7.0
0.5 12.0
0.75 18.0
1.0 24.2
1.25 36.6

I believe what you meant was that you have a 2 speed, 1 HP high, 1/8 HP low motor…these numbers are for the high speed.

If this answer does not fix your problem, please comment with additional details prior to rating the answer. Positive feedback is appreciated once your problem is solved!
