Be sure to install a brand new needle. If it is still happening, take it for service.

SOURCE: shuttle

The bobbin should be placed in the shuttle, with the needle at the top end travel. You can watch the shuttle move as the hand wheel is turned.

SOURCE: Thread continuously getting ****/caught in shuttle

My first thought would be to check the threading on the top, all though it may look right undo it and redo it its real easy to get the tread behind the tension discs, instead of between them. If all that is right check your upper tension, but not until you have rethreaded it.

SOURCE: needle cannot pick up bobbin thread

Remove the needle plate and watch for the hook to come around. You want to see were the hook meets the needle. it should intersect just a bove the eye. I posted a tip on checking your sewing machine timing, check it out.

SOURCE: when drawing thread up from the shuttle needle wont go down

Sounds like your hook to needle timing is off. When you sew through thick materials, a lot of machines have issues where the needle sticks in the fabric but all the internal parts shift and this causes the hook to needle timing to go out. The begging signs of this is skipping stitches. You will have to have you local independent sewing store do this adjustment for you

Hope that helps :)

Alot of thread on the backside, it worked fine for 2 seams then on the 3rd yuk!!

this sounds like a cotton tension problem, on the shuttle case their is two small screws which adjust the thread tension leaving the shuttle adjust the centre screw only by a very small amount clock wise and retry that's if it's a fixed shuttle case if it is of the type that can be removed then insert the bobbin into the shuttle case and thread it into the spring tensioner now hold the tail of the cotton and the shuttle case should hang down, now give them thread a sharp pull up a couple of times and the cotton should just slip and get longer if it does this then the tension is correct if it doesn't move then slacken the centre anti clockwise until it does slip as stated above, if none of the above do not cure the problem then it's possibly due to the pick hook not being in the correct position behind the needle and as to be adjusted, but hopefully it is just a thread tension problem either with the top tension which is more likely , but please make sure you have threaded the sewing machine correctly before doing any of the above.

Happy sewing

Thread caught in pfaff 1475 shuttle

Spray a little WD40 on the broken thread, it makes it easier to pull out, also use dental picks to get in there.

The needle won't pick up the bobbin thread? Seems

I think you mean the shuttle is not picking up the top thread. There are many reasons why this can happen. The best way to find out which is to leave the cover off the bobbin compartment and turn the machine slowly by hand while watching things happen for a few cycles - best to have a piece of material in place as well (but not in your line of sight).
As the needle begins to rise, the top thread should form a loop for the shuttle to pick up. If no loop forms, the needle could be too fat for the thread, the thread could be sticking to the needle, the pick-up arm could be out of time (unlikely), or the thread tension could be wrong (or the machine not threaded correctly).
If a loop forms, but the shuttle does not pick up up, the needle could be bent (take it off and roll it on a flat surface),or in backwards (loop forming opposite to shuttle), or the material (or your manner of feeding it) causing the needle to be deflected away from the shuttle. On some machines, it is also possible to loosen a clamp and move the shuttle closer to the needle, but obviously that is a last resort (unless it has come loose or been forced away).
There are other possibilities, but usually it's the simplest thing. Try changing the needle?

My brunswick vibrating shuttle will work but it wont pick up the thread from the shuttle. I have thread the shuttle several time just like the owners manual says but it still wont pick up the thread. ...

Check to make sure the flat side of the needle is in the proper orientation. If it's turned the wrong way, you will experience this problem. Also make sure the needle is threaded from the proper direction.
Hopefully this will solve your problem. <Ray>

The needle does not pick up the bobbin thread

Hi!

There may be so many reasons due to which the needle does not pick up the bobbing thread like---

The upper thread could be tangled. Remove the thread commpletely from the machine. The correct size spool cap should be used for the size of the thread spool. Re-thread the machine. Remove the bobbin and make sure the bobbin is threaded properly in the shuttle race. Remove any loose threads or lint in the shuttle race. You could be holding the needle thread too tight. Hold the thread lightly to keep the end from going down into the shuttle. The needle could be thread incorrectly. Thread the needle eye from the front to the back. The needle could be bent or improperly inserted. Install a new needle with the flat side of the needle facing the back.

Machine problem

Hi!

There are so many reasons due to which the thread is not picking up from the bobbin like:

The upper thread could be tangled. Remove the thread completely from the machine.
