Re: my reciver is on but the video

Do a master rest on your unit, Then check your signal levels on all of your transpondeyour house rs it sounds like you have a bad lnb, fraid wire, or your reiever is hooked up to a spliter u cant hook up a dvr to a spliter check your your coax ends if no succes then call directv if you have the insurance plan and tellem its bad and youneed a replacement also do u shut your reciever down at night or when u leave house it also sounds like it needs to update

I have direct tv dvr my remote wont work, but remote works on my other recivers, has the ir gone bad and can it be fixed

It's possible that the IR receiver in the DVR has failed. It's unlikely to be the remote as it works with other devices. If the remote was working with the DVR before, then in most cases the problem can be corrected by resetting the DVR as follows:

Press the RED RESET BUTTON behind the access card panel on the front of the DVR. Wait for the program guide information to update then try the remote again.

Try this and post back if you need further assistance.

Hd channels are freezing up sound stays on just

Hey there, raeraekub! In order to assist you with this, I need to get a full understanding of the situation, so I'm going to ask you a few questions. First of all, is this issue still happening? If it is, try unplugging the receiver's power cord from the wall for 15 seconds then plugging it back in. If the problem continues, let me know what type of connection you have from the receiver to the TV. What type of TV do you have? With the DVR issue, is the freezing happening in the middle of watching a recording?

My dvr skips after 2 minutes of playing then freezes completely on one remote location. I have switched receivers with a different and the problem stays with the original room.

If the problem is staying in the room Then yo may have a large magnetic force such as a subwoofer or a speaker to close to the dvr,

DVR's use hard drives like computers, which are a "magnetic" medium, There fore if you have too strong of a magnetic force next to the dvr, then you are casing read errors in the dvr's hard drive,

Another option is possible bad/dirty power to the reciver, one quick way to check is run an extention cord from a room that you know the dvr has worked in and see if the problem goes away, if it does then i would get an electrician to check out power in the "bad" room.

My dvr says it's at 43% capacity regardless of new recordings, or anything deleted

Probably just a glitch, have you unplugged the receiver for five minutes and then plugged it back in? That will usually initiate software downloads that can help resolve issues. If this doesn't work, call DirecTV. They can troubleshoot over the phone for free.

R15 DVR locked in record

2 months ago my R15-500 stopped working. The "Record"(yellow) light was dim on the front of the DVR and a lightly audible clicking noise could be heard from inside the DVR. So I searched the internet and found this FIXYA site. I disassembled the DVR as instructed and removed the power board. Sure enough the Capacitors were bulging on top. I replaced all of the capacitors on the power supply output, I think 6 altogether. I reassembled the unit and it worked great.
