You will always get spam, just install a filter. If you have thunderbird as mail client you can easily set up you spam (junk) filter.

How to keep a check on Email Spam?

Step 1: Set up "filters" in your Gmail account to automatically delete junk mail from specific senders. While spammers tend to change their email addresses frequently, you will sometimes get repeated spam messages from the same sender. Go into your "Settings," click "Filters," and set up a filter that automatically deletes all incoming emails from the sender.

Step 2: If you are getting junk mail from the same company, but the return address keeps changing, create a filter to delete the emails by detecting certain words. For example, maybe the company is called Global Moneymaking Enterprises. Create a filter that catches all emails that contain those three words and set it to delete them automatically.

Step 3: Rather than deleting junk emails that make it into your Gmail inbox, select them and click the "Report Spam" button. This will move the message into your spam folder, but it will also give Google information to help it improve its spam filter.

Step 4: Set up a special Gmail address that you use for making purchases, signing up for newsletters, and doing other activities that require you to give out your email address. Sometimes companies will opt you into promotional offers or sell your email address to spammers. Block this mail from coming to your main Gmail account by protecting that address and only giving out your special account address.

Step 5: If you notice a lot of junk emails in your spam folder that contain certain words, set up a filter to screen out emails with those words. Terms such as Viagra are common, but spammers often change them around to defeat spam filters, However, many of these changes are used frequently. For example, many spammers use the same Vi@gara misspelling. When you notice this, block those terms and you won't even get their messages in your Gmail spam folder.

How to block yahoo spam mails?

How to unsubscribe my Gmail account from unwanted subscriptions

Go to whoever is sending you stuff and look for the unsubscribe utility. If there isn't one, try marking all the stuff you don't want as spam, and Google will get the message after a while. You'll still have to delete it from your spam folder. Google doesn't have anything to do with people sending you unwanted stuff, they just accept it if it has your email address on it.

To unsubscribe

Unfortunately you cannot unsubscribe from spam.

A nasty spammer has got hold of your e-mail address and that's all there is.

There are two solutions.

One is to use some form of spam blocking software,

Another is to change your e-mail address and don't drop the new one around where people can see and abuse it.

Get rid of spam

Unsolicited junk e-mail, or spam, is an unwelcome and often offensive byproduct of the Internet's success. Although there's no guarantee you can avoid all spam, there are ways to avoid looking at most of it.Instructions

  1. Basic prevention
    • 1 If you're already getting spam messages, check with your Internet service provider to see whether it has a spam-prevention option that scans your incoming e-mail for known spammers.
    • 2 If you're lucky enough not to be getting spam now, then sign up for a second (free) e-mail address from a service such as Yahoo or Hotmail. Use this address exclusively for e-commerce, mailing-list subscriptions and bulletin-board postings of any kind. Reserve your main e-mail address for private e-mail to and from friends.
    Rule filtering
    • 1 Create an e-mail folder called Suspected Spam.
    • 2 Use the filtering feature in your e-mail program to create rules that redirect spam messages to your Suspected Spam folder. Most spam is not addressed to its recipient by name.
    • 3 Define a rule for incoming mail that says, "If my name appears in the To: or cc: field, then move this message to the Inbox." The procedure for defining rules varies among e-mail programs, so you should consult your program's Help feature to learn exactly how this works.
    • 4 Define individual rules to catch e-mail that isn't addressed to you personally but that you nevertheless want to receive, such as messages from lists you've subscribed to. Have these rules redirect the relevant messages to the Inbox or to special folders that you have created for mail from those sources--for instance: "If the Sender field includes 'MyList,' then send this message to the MyList folder."
    • 5 Define a final rule that sends all other e-mail that hasn't already been redirected by one of your other rules to the Suspected Spam box. For instance, a rule that says, "If the Sender field isn't 'XYXYXYXYY,' then move this message to the Suspected Spam folder" would work as a catchall.

  • Never reply to a spam message, even to request that your name be removed from the list. That just tells the spammers that your address is valid.

How do I set up an additional e-mail address?

1. Click Options in the upper-right corner of your Mail page and select Mail Options.
2. From the list on the left, click Accounts.
3. The second half of this page is called "Extra Mail Address." Click Get Started and follow the instructions to create an extra mail address.

Note: When you create an extra mail address, it appears in the list of Yahoo! Mail accounts shown on this page. To help prevent spamming, an extra address can only be changed twice in one year.

Spamming contacts

1) Your account has been compromised, and is being used to send spam. Change your password and your security questions.

2) Your e-mail address has been used as (spoofed) sender. This means you`ll get failure notices like this, but sadly, you cannot do anything about this. It will stop eventually.

3) You may have a virus, that uses your e-mail program to send stuff to others. Scan your system (after you update your program) and then scan for spyware and other nasty stuff.

If you do step 1 and 3 - chances are this will stop.
If your address is spoofed, you will get some of these every now and then - but that too will, eventually, stop.

I am being prompted to enter a code when replying to an email & I have never encountered this before. Can you help? My address is but my friend used my computer and some screens...

Not sure about the code you're referring to (unless it's that "CAPTCHA" stuff to prevent spam bots) but as far as seeing references to your friend's login you just have to click the "sign out" link which is usually at the top of the page on the left or right. If nothing else you can always delete your browser's cookies.

How to delete spam of my computer

Do you mean delete or prevent, if you mean delete just select it and click delete, However if you mean stop it The only solution I have found is to have a seperate e-mail address which I only give to trusted contacts. I change this every so often. It stops the spam for a while at least. I If you allow e-mail on Yahoo answers anyone can get your address.
Good luck and hope this helps.
