Return it direct to Amazon. We are not Amazon, we are Fixya.

All your data and books is on the Kindle server and can go to any device registered in your name.

  2. On the product detail page, click Loan this book. You will be sent to the Loan this book page.
  3. Enter the recipient's email address and an optional message. Note: Be sure to send the Kindle book loan notification to the recipient's personal email address and not their Send to Kindle email address.

How do i get my kindle to turn on after replacing the screen? i have tried rebooting and that doesn't work, also took it apart twice to see if all was in place. can you help me please

Dear Lorraine, could you please provide us with some details so we could try to find a solution to your problem?
1) What is your Kindle model?
2) Was the battery fully charged when you tried to turn it on?
3) Were all small connectors re-attached to their respective counterparts in the Kindle's circuit board?
4) Have you checked if the new screen is also broken (could have happened during transportation) and hence, will not show anything on it?

Anyway, while we wait for your answers to these questions, you could try to to leave the Kindle charging for some two or three hours and then try to reboot it again (check if the charging LED is also turning on, during the charging period and if it changes color when the device is fully charged).

We will be waiting for your answers in order to try to find a suitable solution.

The Kindle touch and the Kindle FIre are great devices for your reading needs. However, there are times when it becomes unresponsive and freezes on you. Amazon says it is because the battery isn't charged properly or does not have enough power on it. It is advisable to charge your battery first before trying to reset the Kindle touch/Fire. If theKindle still has issues, then try the steps below on how to reset your Kindle touch/fire. Please note that you may lose your data during the reset process, make sure you have made a backup of your files before proceding.

  • Press the Power button for 20-30 seconds until it turns OFF.
  • Wait for it to reboot, if it doesn't press the power button to turn it ON.

How do I find the restart button on my kindle

Dear friend,

To restart your Kindle 3, you will need to have it recharged first. Then, disconnect it from the computer or charger and slide the ON/OFF switch to the ON position and keep it there for 15 seconds and then release it. Kindle will reboot.

The Kindle 3 also has a hardware reset button inside, but you will need to open it, in case you do not manage to make it work with the solution provided above.

Hope you can reset your Kindle and have your books back!

When I was purchasing books last night my Kindle froze and would not function. I cut it off to try to reboot and now it won't come on. ???

Try rebooting your Kindle by holding the 'on' switch down for 20 seconds then letting go - it should 'reboot' by itself. You may have to do it a couple of times to reset your Kindle.

If this doesn't work, contact Amazon Customer Service as this is a common problem.

Got it for Christmas and love it, but it is very glitchy: sometimes doesn't return to last page read, sometimes shuts down and reboots in the middle of reading, sometimes takes FOREVER to power up -...

This looks like a hardware defect covered by the 1-year limited warranty, assuming you did not mistreat your device like dropping it into a bathtub or running your car over it a few times.

Contact Amazon Kindle support:
  • In the United States: 1-866-321-8851
  • Outside the United States: 1-206-266-0927
In general, you will need to deliver your Device, postage paid, in either its original packaging or in equally protective packaging to the address specified by Customer Service. Before you deliver your Device for warranty service, it is your responsibility to backup any data, software, or other materials you may have stored or preserved on your Device. It is possible that such data, software, or other materials will be lost or reformatted during service.

Your Kindle will be repaired, replaced, or refunded.

How do I delist a kindle that I purchased as a gift for my daugter? Al Willinger alwillinger@cox.net

When you register your Kindle, you'll be able to purchase and download content easily. You can register or deregister your Kindle on your computer through the Manage Your Kindle page, or right from your device.
Note: If you have a Wi-Fi only device, you will need to set up your Wi-Fi connection in order to register from your device.

To register or deregister your Kindle from your device:
  1. Move the 5-way controller down until "Settings" is underlined and press to select.
  2. Press the 5-way controller to select "register" or "deregister" from the Settings screen. If you don't have an Amazon.com account, you will be prompted to create one.
  3. When you register your Kindle, enter your Amazon.com user name and password (the e-mail address and password associated with your Amazon account) using the keyboard.
  4. Move the 5-way controller to select "OK."
Tip: If your Amazon user name or password contains characters or numbers not present on the Kindle keyboard, press the Symbol key to see a menu of additional characters.
Registering if You Don't Have an Amazon.com Account If you don't already have an Amazon.com account, you can create one at www.amazon.com. Here's how:
  1. On the sign-in screen, enter the e-mail address you want to use for your Amazon.com account. This e-mail address will be the one we use to send you updates about your orders.
  2. Don't enter a password. Check the button next to "No, I am a new customer" and then click the Sign in using our secure server button to continue.
  3. Enter your name and verify your e-mail address on the Registration screen.
  4. Enter a password for your new account and click the Continue button. We'll ask you to enter the same password twice to make sure it is correct. (You might also want to write your login informaiton so you'll have it later.)
  5. Visit the Manage Your Kindle page. Enter the serial number for your Kindle and click the Register a new Kindle button. You'll find Kindle's serial number on the outside of the box or on the Settings menu on your Kindle.
If you're unable to locate Kindle's serial number, don't worry. You've successfully created an Amazon.com account and can now register your Kindle wirelessly following the Registering Your Kindle instructions above.
