before you get in touch with Sony technical support you may want to try to use the PS3 recovery options.
The PS3 stores a copy of firmware drivers on the hard-drive and will reload any corrupt files. To access the recovery menu, do this:
Make sure the PS3 is turned off
Press and hold the power button on the PS3 it will power on then power off.
When it's off press and hold the power button again until you hear two consecutive beeps. When you hear the double beeps immediately take your finger off the power button (if your system turns off before you get a double beep just try again and hold the button, it should double beep the 2nd time you try)
It will ask for the controller to be connected via the USB cable,
Turn on the controller and you will have access to the menu.
Be aware that you might lose all of your previously saved data.

hold the power button at front when turned off, the ps3 will start up (still holding the power button?) then turn off again this will reset all system settings
try rebuilding the database and the file system in recovery consol
to get to the recovery consol press and hold the power button when ps3
is in standby mode(red light) till you hear a double beep. sometimes
the ps3 does a beep then another beep and goes back into standby thsi
is fine just release the power and quikly press and hold it again till
you get double beep.
like on my 80g system it goes like this
ps3
standby...press hold power.......beep .........beep........stanby
again....release and hold power again.......beep .........double
beep...release power now you should be in recovery menu.

to get to the recovery consol press and hold the power button when ps3 is in standby mode(red light) till you hear a double beep. sometimes the ps3 does a beep then another beep and goes back into standby thsi is fine just release the power and quikly press and hold it again till you get double beep.

try and hold the power switch until you hear 2 beeps it should go into restore factory mod .... if that dont work try creating a new profile and deleting that demo/game if that dont work then you'll need to replace the disc drive ...there only 50 dollars on ebay
