Sometimes a part can go shorted, and an over voltage occures somewheres thus causing another part to blow. This can be anywhere from in the power supply to any of the other boards.
The set would have to be serviced to determine the cause and what was damaged. Most likely there will be the need to change some boards. Most of the service is done by a combination of board replacement and some component replacement depending on the exact type of fault.

Sounds like either something went pop on the main pcb or in the power supply. Will need a repairman to take a look. & Just a caution if you're feeling adventurous, don't do it yourself unless you know what you're doing!!
