SOURCE: Quick Fix?
The compressor is locking up when it gets hot. We have seen alot of this on the units with Tecumseh compressors. If it is less than 5 yrs old it should still be covered by the sealed system warranty and repaired free of charge.
If it is out of any warranty, there are "fit-all" compressor starters with start capacitors built in them that give it a little extra boost on start-up. They are called 3-in-1 or kickstart starters. This will usually buy you a few months until you can replace fridge.
If it is covered by warranty but will take a few days to get repaired, you can get by ok by unplugging fridge at night and plugging back in in the morning. This is what I tell my customers when I have to order a compressor and so far they have been able to keep from losing food.

the middle insulation hasbecome water logged, forma faulty defrost tube, so, every time trhe unit defrost, 2 maybe 3 times a day it will spill water inti the vents, andin to the refrig, the only correct way to fix is to have the enitre center drain block replaced, part not that expensive but labor to install may be, ohter then nussincence, not really affecting machines workings

You should worry , the 12 amps is a locked rotor on the compressor , it may be the over load relay control on the compressor as well , try replacing the over load start relay first , they are not expensive , if this does not fix it you can try installing a booster like a rco410 but the comp. can not take that abuse for years from the booster. when the comp. is running normal it will draw roughly 1.5 - 3.0 amps.

Based on your description, the defrost limit has failed and should be replaced. The job takes about 30 minutes. The part you'll need is a WR50X55. You can find it online by plugging that number into a search engine, or pick one up locally at an appliance parts retailer.
UNPLUG THE FRIDGE BEFORE CONTINUING!!!
Clean out all the stuff in the freezer and remove the shelves. Then remove the panel in the back of the freezer section. You'll see the defrost limit clipped to the evaporator coils at the top right. Remember which tube it's clipped to, then take it off the tube.
Now clip the wires close to the limit and remove the limit. Strip those 2 wires back about 3/8" and connect them to the new limit one wire at a time. Cap these wires off with wire nuts. All you gotta do now is use one of the clips in the kit (I use the "U" shaped one, NOT the "W" shaped one) and clip it to the tube you removed the old one from. Rebuild everything and plug the fridge back in. That's it!
NOTE---> The fan inside the freezer will NOT come on immediately. The derfrost limit you just installed must get below 55 degrees first, then it'll turn the fan on. OK?
If there's anything else I can help you with, please write back. If not, and this has fixed your problem, please rate me.
