There is three possibilities:
1. Defective back lights LED strip.
2. Defective LED driver section integrated in the main power supply.
3. the main board.

How to check it:
1. You need a LED back lights tester to check the strips, or open the panel, use a 3.7 V DC power supply to test each LED diode separately.
2. Use a multi meter to test the out put DC voltage from the connector to the LED strip between the + & - for each section, (like 1+/1-, 2+/2- etc.) it should read 140 - 220 V DC. (need power up the TV).
3. Un-plug the cable between the main board & the power supply, power up the TV, if you get the back lights light up, the main board is bad.

If you see an image with a flashlight the T con board and power supply board are good. The back light controller board is the culprit.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

If you see a picture with the flashlight you can rule out the T-Con board. It's working. So the led driver board is the problem. TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy Go here for replacement parts.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

I have a Samsung LED TV model UN65EH6000FXZA about 2.5 years old. It's experiencing the "black screen of *****" problem that's evidently common these days. I have sound but no picture.

This could be a lot of things. There could be a loose cable, a bad T-con board, a bad lcd display panel, bad main board etc. This is why television repair shops have an advantage, they can swap parts for free without charge, Then when they find the bad part, they charge you for it. if you order something and are wrong, you now have a spare part. Also manufacturers wont ship a large LCD panel to an end user. In order to troubleshoot this issue you would need meters and scopes unless you want to guess at what the issue is. Sites like shopjimmy.com have a lot of helpful info. I would guess that it is the TCON board, You may want to see what the cheapest part is and try that route. The main board could be the issue too but the last and most expensive is the LCD panel and you cannot replace that. Start by checking cables because if you moved the set or use it a lot, sometimes ribbon cables come loose.

Samsung lcd tv has sound but no picture. Samsung TV works for about 10 minutes then screen go black but sound continues

Use a flashlight on the screen when it goes black. If you can see a faint picture then the board that controls the back light has gone bad. If you see no picture then the T-Con board is bad. You can get replacement parts here: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy and fix the TV yourself. It's not that difficult.

Watching new two day old le37r87 and the screen just went black now does nothing but the soulnd still comes out of the Hi-fi

Does bulb come on? If not, I would take it back since only 2 days old. If it does, try unplugging for a few minutes and plugging back in to see if that solves problem. If not, you can check test patterns by getting into service mode to see if display is working. Not sure what code to get into service mode on your tv is, but I have a different model Samsung and I enter service mode by pressing "mute", "1", "8", "2", then "power" on the remote. If your samsung has same code, it will start up in service mode. Once in service mode, go to DDP1011, then Test Pattern. Go through the different patterns by pressing the right arrow key on remote. If they don't show up, you probably have bad DMD board. If they do show up, go back to main menu and select DNle then Test Pattern. If pattern does not show up, you have an analog board problem. If it does show up, go back to main menu and there should be an option in the menu tree to do a user reset, which will change everything to factory defaults and restart tv. Hope this helps. If not I would be taking it back since only 2 days old.
