Question about Ovens
When I try to cook meat in the meat setting the timer will only let me set it on 40 minutes. The meat is still tough and I have to close it and set the time all over again. What am I doing wrong?
You did not list the make and model and you must consider altitude, type of meat, pre preparation and the function of the valve system on the unit. If the valves are not working, no pressure is building also the gasket on the unit can cause the same issue.

it sounds like you have a problem with the thermostat that tells the oven to switch off when it gets to the right temperature if the temperature exceeds the setting you choose then the oven will shut down as a safety feature you can get these replaced but because of the age i wouldnt know where to get them from if you get somenody to come and replace it for you it would be cheaper than buying new cooker then this should get your cooker working nrmally i had this problem but on a different make and model but doing this dolved the problem the only problem i did have was locating the right part number but after i got it it only took repair man 1 hour to fit it and done it for less than 50 quid hope this is some help ..................................

SOURCE: trying to set oven timer
Hi, switch off the mains for the cooker, wait for about 15 seconds then press the 2 buttons on the left and hold them, and then press the - or + button to set the time.

You have to remove the complete top assy as one unit. To do this you need to remove the side panels, there are screws at the rear, and some at the front of the oven, you will then be able to see the screws securing the top
The top then slides towards the rear, then you can gain access to the timer unit.
Hope this helps.
