Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

Turbine runs louder than normal. New filters were needed and problem persisted after filers were replaced. Sound is simar to a clogged vacuum. You can hear the rotation of the fan blade whereas before you couldn't. Components appear clean and brushes are in good shape. Any ideas?

SOURCE: Brush won't spin when position of handle changes

The belt for this machine is very specific and only one size fits. It is not uncommon for vac shops to sell the wrong belt because the proper belt is not available from normal supply houses, so they will substitute something they think will work.

Also, assuming you do have the right belt, check the tension arm that drops down on the v-belt when the handle is brought back. This arm has a wheel/bearing with a plastic "tire" or trim that rolls on the belt to tighten it. Sometimes, this tire cracks and falls off and then the remaining bearing won't have the necessary tension to tighten up the belt.

SOURCE: rotating brush will not turn on my Dyson DC07

Yes I had the same problem on my animal Dysom. There is a button on the top of the dysom that turns the cacuum on. Right beside that button is another one that turns on and off the brush!!! Good luck!!! I accidently one day bumped that button and couldn't get my brush to work but after troubleshooting it, that was my solution.

SOURCE: I have full suction with the hose and when the

So I have exactly the opposite problem, it sucks in floor mode but the hand held has zero suction. My daughter and i just spent the last hour disassembling and diagnosing and found this: The way the suction tube is configured, you have two places to **** from, the floor and the hand held hose. If you look at the back of the machine, you can see the "y" where the two hoses join. just behind the beater bar there is a blast gate that closes when you stand the machine upright. This closes the blast gate and directs full sution to the hand hose. In floor mode as the handle tips back, a follower wheel and spring move the blast gate to open. THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART...if the hose is not docked, there is a second place for the suction to go and you will get no suction at the floor. In my case, the center post where the spring mounts is broken and the blast gate flap does not close, so the hand hose gets no suction because it is like a straw with a hole in it, the air will seek the least resistance. In your case you either have not returned the hose to the docking port or your blast gate is stuck in the closed position. To check this remove the two screws and clamp that secure the lower hose to the suction manifold. Pull the hose stright an look inside to see if the blast gate is open or closed. Use the release pedal to cycle the machine between upright and floor mode and you should see the blast gate open and close. If you don't, well that's a whole other story. I'm off to see if I can find a replacement part at repairclinic.com. If not I will have to get some polyester epoxy and fix it myself.

Seems like the problem with the turbine head is a frequent problem. I am having the same problem with the brushes do not turn right when put on the carpet.i have already paid to get looked at .

Turbine nozzles require a lot off suction to work properly. If the filters are clogged it can reduce the suction. It might help to replace all of the filters.

My S7580 vacuum cleaner is very noisy

Hey, this is Jeremy with Crucial Vacuum,

To remedy a noisy vacuum cleaner there are typically four main areas to check to restore proper functionality. By following the steps below it should be back to normal in no time!

1. Dirty Filters- If your vacuum has suddenly become very loud, check the filter, as it may be dirty. When the filters on a vacuum become excessively dirty, the vacuum may start running louder because it is working hard to create suction. If your filters are dirty, your vacuum is likely not suctioning appropriately, either. To fix this problem, simply remove the filters in your vacuum, rid them of the dust and debris and rinse them out with warm water.

2. Clog- Clogs are often the reason as to why your vacuum cleaner is being extra noisy. While vacuuming, something may get sucked up such as a button or a small toy, for example. Additionally, the clog may be making the vacuum work harder. Check all tubes and hoses in the vacuum to make sure there are no obstructions.

3. Broken Brush Bearing- When a brush bearing breaks, the vacuum cleaner gets loud and starts to vibrate. To remedy the problem, remove the brush and replace it

4. Broken Fan- The fan in the motor of your vacuum may be broken, causing the vacuum to run louder than normal. When dirt runs through the motor of the vacuum, it can collect on the fan, causing it to break. If the fan in your vacuum motor is broken, it will need to be replaced. This is a slightly more tricky process and may require you to bring in your vacuum to a repair shop to have the part replaced.

Vacuum is loud

Check for clogs starting with the air passageway at the bottom....
a piece of TV cable is great for clearing clogs there....check all
hoses...check for dirty filters. If you find no clogs remove the
brush bar and belt and start the vacuum...if the vacuum is no
longer noisy the problem is the bearings at each end of the brush
bar..... WD 40 may fix or you will have to replace. If after all this
the noise persists the the problem is in the motor. (If you use WD 40
make sure it is dry before you vacuum carpet)

Make sure that there are no clogs in any of the hoses. Also, check any belts. Make sure that they are in place and they are spinning.

I was vacuuming up little shards of glass using the tool connector and all of the sudden the motor made a really loud sound.

Does the machine sound louder than normal since then? If its louder than normal since you vacuumed up the glass then you must likely chipped a fan blade or broke it. Either way it needs a new fan if thats what happened.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC32 Animalpro. If the turbine head doesn't seem to be working correctly, and is not blocked, you may need to wash the cleaner's filter. Under normal use, this needs to be done at least once every 3-6 months. Use cold water without detergent, and allow the filter to dry completely before replacing it - this may take up to 24 hours. For guidance on washing the filter, please see the guide linked below:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=1847&product=DC32-ANIMAL

This should allow you to resolve your issue without further assistance, but if your problem with the turbine head persists, please get in touch with us directly. If it's necessary to replace the turbine head, it should be covered by our 5-year warranty, as long as the cleaner has been used in accordance with the terms and conditions listed in the user guide. You can call us free on 08002980298 - our Helpline is available from 7am until 10pm, 7 days a week.

Brushes won't rotate on hoover steam vac. I have removed them and cleaned.

The brushes turn by the airflow from the vacuum suction turning a turbine motor to spin the brushes. First try to spin the brushes by hand. If they won't turn it usually means the brushes are clogged with hair and debris or need replaced or the turbine could be seized up. If the brushes won't spin reach under the brushes and push the little tabs and remove the brush block asssembly from the machine. If the brushes spin freely after you remove them from the machine then that means that most likely the turbine is seized and will need to be repaced. If the turbine is not seized you may simply just have a clogged filter screen. Most steam vacs have a red screen filter either on top or underneath the machine. On the top it is under a little clear plastic cover that you have to pry off before you can pull the screen out to clean it. If it's underneath you can pull it out and clean it.

The brush system on this model has a poor engineering design in that the brushes are running off an air turbine, which uses a steel bushing to spin the turbine which gets rusty from the moisture when the machine is being used. No long term solver. I would replace the machine with a Dirt Devil Platinum Force model
