My machine shuts down then re-loades every few minutes. This started when I updated to new freeview channels.

SOURCE: JVC DVD Recorder DR-M1SLB Spontaneously Shuts Off

Had a similar problem with my JVC, took the lid off and the transformer looks as though it had been overheating with scorch marks under the lid.I would think there is a thermal cut-out so the only solution is to replace the transformer and make sure the cooling fan is working

SOURCE: Similar problem as you helped me solve before.

OK, I think I see the problem there.
The aerial lead from the DVDR to TV should be removed.
You should have it setup the same as the other Freeview - VCR - TV
Nutshell time:
Main aerial to Freeview input.
Loop aerial from freeview output to DVDR areial input (all this does is allow you to watch freeview, or standard both out of the DVDR)
So..
Scart from Freeview to DVDR input
Scart from DVDR output to TV
Set DVDR to AV input mode.
Set TV to AV (whatever number you need for that..you now won't get anything on screen unless you have the right input selected)

If you can now see the Freeview picture on the TV and change the channels with the Freeview remote then you should be set for recording.

Having the aerial and a scart lead both going to the TV is not needed.

SOURCE: LG LCD TV 37LP1D digital freeview tuning problems

Hi - I have the same problem. Also in Cornwall LG were not interested in helping because the TV was 3 1/2 years old. There was a possible fix in the end offered via LG at a cost of £180 + vat - a hardware update that might or might not work but I was not going to pay that so I now watch my LG 42 plasma via a £25 digi box from the CO OP. LG must have sold 1000's of these Tv's so when the digital switch starts in the more populated areas of the country I exect many more web postings.

Please see that the Auto Timer is corrected . Remove the power off the TV and keep aside so that it will reset. Now check for the timer set up. You can correct this settings by checking with the menu - timer settings.

How do you tune TV

A full retune should only takes a few minutes and can be done with your remote control. Here are some guidelines for how to do it, but bear in mind every model of digital TV or box will be a little bit different.
  • Make sure your Freeview TV or box is on and in digital mode, usually by pressing the DTV or digital button on your remote. Then press 'menu'.
  • Select the 'set up' or 'installation' option. If you see picture icons, select the tool box, satellite dish or spanner. If you are prompted for a code, try 0000 or 1234.
  • Select the full retune option. This is sometimes called 'first time installation', 'factory reset', 'default settings' or 'shipping conditions'. Do not select 'channel update' or 'add channels'.
  • Press 'OK' if your equipment asks if you want to delete all your channels. Don't worry this is normal
  • Channels will automatically be installed. This may take a few minutes and your equipment may shut down and restart
  • In some cases, where transmitter signals overlap, it may be necessary to carry out a manual retune.
Note: Depending on your TV equipment, you may need to update your favourites list following a retune. Some digital recorders may require scheduled recordings to be reset.

Just go to your TV settings and just do a full reinstall ,like the day you brought your TV ,below is from the web site your tv will work hope this will help.
The Freeview TV guide is being updated on Wednesday, 3 September 2014 to create extra capacity for new services. As a result, Children's and News channels will move to new channel numbers.
• The Children's genre will move from channel numbers in the 70s to start at 120
• The News genre will move from channel numbers in the 80s to start at 130
To update their guide viewers simply need to retune their Freeview TVs and digital recorders or boxes where equipment does not pick up the changes automatically. On-screen messages will prompt viewers to retune late afternoon 3 September 2014 onwards.
Viewers who don't retune will not lose channels - services will remain accessible at their old numbers. However, Digital UK and Freeview recommend viewers retune from time-to-time to ensure they have access to all available services in their area.

I have a Panasonic TV with inbuilt Freeview TH-42PX70BA. I also have a Hitachi VCR VT-FX980E which I use to record analogue channels. Now that the analogue signal is disappearing I would like to record...

The simple solution is to connect your VCR to a Freeview set top box, which you can pick up for around £10. Simply connect the box via a scart lead. If the Video has two scrat sockets use the other for the box. For recording set the VCR up the same way but instead of selecting channel one or two etc set it as AV2 if that is the place the box is connected. When recording leave the box on the station you want to record and the VCR will record it. Don't forget to allow a few minutes either way for the start and stop times. Also if the VCR has PDC switch it to off.
You should be able to record this way whilst watching another channel on the TV. Some Freeview set top box's have timers on them so if you are out and want to record two shows on different channels you can.
If you have only one scart then a scart switching unit such as this below will solve that problem. Found on Amazon.

I have a panasonic dmr-es20d dvd recorder. It has lost all of it's channels today, as expected but when I re-tune it it is not finding any. I have used an aerial socket that was used to successfully...

This worked for me... In the "Others" section of the Setup options, set Quick Start to Off. Then select and confirm the Shipping Condition option. Power the unit down using the unit's on/off button then switch the unit off at the mains. After a few seconds, switch it back on at the mains then turn it on via the on/off button. On power-up, it should (eventually) start scanning, but this time it should find the channels. I usually only need to turn Quick Start off to force a clock update when the clocks go back/forward, but it would appear that with Quick Start enabled, the unit attempts to used cached info about the channel multiplexes, which was obviously invalidated by today's mux re-organisation. Hope it works for you too.

Cannot find freeview/digital on our new TV

You can only get the freeview / digital channels through cable by subscribing to a package which includes them. They will then supply the necessary decoder to get the channels. Otherwise you will need a digital aerial and a freeview box if you tv is not dtv ready.

as long as you have a good digital aerial connected to the recorder and you are in a good signal area then the channels should have been found automaticaly and stored on the machine.. a manual search and store would also work ok.. check your aerial connection/aerial type and any info you can find on freeview availabiliy in your area.. do you or anyone in your area have any other freeview device running ok?

Dmr-es10 dvd recorder - cant get the machine to record digital channels form tv

Channels 1-5 are I believe for Analogue reception. To record from my digital Freeview box, I'm plugged into SCART port 2 (bottom most port on right hand side of machine as you look at it from the front). Use your remote to change the channel to A2 with the <CH> rocker button just above the video+ button on the controller. This will then record whatever channel your freeview box is set to - the only pain is you can't watch a separate channel whilste recording.

Kind Regards

Brad
