When I open google, my gmail account shows in the upper right hand corner and by clicking on it , it brings me to my gmail account. Why do I not need a password ?

I believe you're already logged into your Google Account in Google Chrome which keeps your logged-in status. Google will use your login credentials for Google Chrome to allow you to access your Gmail without requiring you to login again. To force a login each time, you may wish to logout of your Google Account from Google Chrome.

Log into my gmail

Point your web browser at http://www.gmail.com

If another account comes up, sign out of it by clicking the avatar in the upper-right then clicking "Sign out."

If you then still can't sign in to your account, click the "Need help?" link on the sign-in page.

If you're getting an error message, what does it say?

Sign in google chrome

first download and install browser.
https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/

Second when chrome browser first opens it will ask to make the default browser and ask you to create a gmail account.

if you re pen internet explorer it will ask you to make it the default again, browser to select no and check to box to never asks again.

Once a gmail account is created, and Chrome is logged into your gmail account, you'll be all set. All the google apps are auto synced to your chrome.

The mail purpose for syncing chrome to your gmail account, is for all shortcuts, bookmarks and home page info you set on your chrome is backup on your gmail account. this way if you log into chrome anywhere, your defaults will follow you. the same will be for chrome on mobile devices, phones and tablets.

I keep receiving this message ~ temporary error 500 when logging into gmail account.

How to Fix Gmail Temporary Error 500: Gmail Access Problem?
The Gmail Error 500 is the most common error which Gmail users face on frequent basis because of some severe server configurations issues. In web world, the Gmail Error 500 truly indicates an Internal Server Error message and occurs while the server encounters an unexpected condition to prevent it from fulfilling the request. The issue is not only confined to the Gmail accounts. According to Outlook technical support professionals, one can check this by simply logging into a friend's account from the same computer. The issue is further not limited to the computer or network itself but yes one can easily perform a check by trying to log in from a different computer or even from a network.
Steps to fix the Gmail Temporary Error 500
Step1: Browser Cache Issues
Generally clearing our browser's cache as well as cookies can easily fix out most of the issues a user is facing with the Gmail account. Therefore the first attempt to resolving a Gmail Login issue should be that of clearing out cache files of the web browser. If a user is using the Firefox, Google Chrome or even the Internet Explorer a user can clear cache by pressing the Ctrl+Shift+Del button.
Step2: Conflicting Browser Extension/Toolbars
An improperly coded browser extension which users may have recently installed could be the main cause of it which is stopping users from accessing a Gmail account. One can easily check this out by working with the browser in the "Safe Mode" section. If a user is using the safe mode then, simply click on the "Firefox Menu > Help > Restart" button with the Addons Disabled.
Step3: Internet Security applications such as Firewall, Antivirus

Different antivirus software that may have different settings for the internet usage, but as a general rule, one can surely check the following settings as described below by Outlook tech support team of experts:
?Privacy/Firewall/Allowed sites
?Make sure that you have added a mail.google.com/mail to all the allowed sites.
?Cookie Control session
?Internet Security Toolbar - Disabling of all the internet security toolbars is required that users may have installed.

Step 4: Gmail Sever Issue
Gmail is accessed by hundreds of data centers across the world which undergoes a regular maintenance shut downs sessions. While a selected data centers are not undergoing any maintenance phase, the Gmail accounts are entirely served by another data centre. In such cases, users won't be the only person who is affected and then can be sure enough of the fact that the people at Gmail would be easily trying their best to run as early as possible. Have Win7 and IE 8. Son installed Google Chrome but it didn't work so then uninstalled it. Now can't access gmail (google mail) it keeps saying that cookies have been disallowed. But in checking to make...

Try these two things in IE 8:
Disable Content Advisor
  1. Open Internet Explorer, and click Tools along the top of your browser window.
  2. Select Internet Options... and click the Content tab at the top of the dialogue box. If the Content Advisor is enabled, please disable it.
  3. Click OK.
Clear Browser Cache
  1. Completely close IE; all browser windows. Now re-open IE.
  2. Click Tools > Delete private browsing history. (or press Ctrol-Shift-Delete at same time)
  3. Click the box next to 'Temporary Internet files' and 'Cookies' - so they are checked. Any other items checked here is at your own discretion.
  4. Click Delete button.
Now go to gmail.com and try to log-in again.

Facebook~ google chrome

Google chrome is sometimes v e r y slow, still has some bugs in it too. I tried it, thought something from Google would be better, I was wrong. I went to filehippo.com ( type filehippo in address bar and hold Ctrl down and press enter) and found a web browser called Flock. It is based on FireFox. Been using it for 2 months, no complaints yet.
