Well some times if your processor gets on heat, it might turn off,s o i will suggest you to keep you laptop on a glass table and than use it, and you an try in safe mode as well and check if it works fine there ot not, if it wrks fine there than that means there might be some virsues or something or some thrid oarty software conflict.

Yu can check event viewer there you can find the exact cause for your shut down.

How to remove the battery?

Notwithstanding those secret... teeny tiny watch style batteries that keep processor clocks going (hidden in or near the "mother-board")... that nobody ever talks about:

THE BATTERY is usually removed by flipping the Laptop over... look for a side type latch... and slide it... sometimes aided by turning the unit UP-RIGHT while operating the release... On most of the MAXs I have ever looked at it requires a coin to be inserted into a VERY OBVIOUS release SCREW and turn to release the battery...

All this goes without saying... Run your SHUT-DOWN processes before dropping out the battery... as ABRUPT power interruptions can seriously confound the operating LOGIC of ANY/ALL computers...

Causing un-recoverable memory loss.

Always make sure you have USEFULL back-ups,,, and recovery processes built BEFORE YOUR start seriously slapping stored program control systems around.

Good luck with that battery

Reinstall

Yes. You need to do a repair, rather than a complete reinstall. You need to have exactly the same version of windows reinstall disk as the OS your repairing.

My lenovo 3000 Y 500 7761 47Q is shutting down abruptly. Hi Team, I am using Lenovo Laptop since Aug 2007. Around an year back April 2009 my laptops adapter was short circuited and I purchased a new one...

Have you tried a different battery. When the system is on, please check your battery settings to see if it is fully charged. Go to Start/Control Panel/Power Options and the very last tab.

This should tell you how much battery power is in. If it is very low it means that your battery is not getting a full charge and this could be the cause of your problem.

Let me know how it goes. Don't forget to vote for me.

Do a system restore to a point previous to the power failure shut down. It sounds like the abrupt shut down glitched the system.

HP pavilion laptop shuts down abruptly

It sounds like something is overheating to me. Also, it could be a bad motherboard. Try putting your laptop on a hard surface. I carnt stress this enough. Also, you can try cleaning out the laptops cooling vents with some compressed air (you can get it at pcworld). At the end of the day and it still wont work, send it in for repair. Good luck
