SOURCE: I have planted some sage

Cut them with the stem.Do not cut ALL of it.Leave some to grow. When you get it cut place it all in a brown paper bag.Close the bag.Everyday open the bag and shake it.This will dry it so you can keep it for a long time. When it is dry,I use a tobacco grinder and grind stems and all.I then store it in a plastic freezer bag and freeze it.Just in case you need something sage is good on.Sword fish,or any fish with the same texture.Marinate the fish in olive oil, with 3 fresh lemons, cut and squeeze them into the oil, then add plenty of the sage.Wait for 24 hours or more, then grill.

SOURCE: growing indoor avocado tree from seed

Make sure it doesn't stand in water, don't give it too much. Moist is OK, but it needs to all drain out. Also, don't let soil cover the top of the seed area. Mulch on top is OK, but not right over the base.

Testimonial: "Thank you for your answer. I will repot this into a pot that has better drainage and I will clear the covering from around the "trunk " where it goes into the dirt.I am confident that you have solved this problem for me because I had over watering problems in the past. I don't know why I did not match these two incidents together and solve the problem before it became this critical. I will let you know my results - in about two weeks - if I can ever find this site again. I am not too good with computers. When I was a child I drank too much water. I appreciate your answer. - Lester"

Tatarian Maple leaves growing out of trunk, should I remove those branches or buches clear from the ground up as that is how they are growing?

G'day Patti, unless you want to look beyond the tree it would be advisable to leave the lower leaves and branches. The lower branches hide little critters from big critters. Cheers Greg.

What are little almost microscopic bus that are drawn to water and I think came from a bag of dry cat food

Don't know what they are, but when cat and some dog food get wet, it is gruesome what grows! Mine grew pink small little worms. Try and either make your own dog/cat food or buy the top brands.also write to the manufacturer and if possible, send a picture. Better brands are more expensive for a reason - they are made from quality ingredients and don't grow ugly things when have been sitting. Throw out the dog's leftover moist food after each meal . If you leave food down for free choice eating, leave only dry food down.

The tips of the leaves of my dwarf lemon tree in a pot are yellowing. what causes this and how can i fix it???

Dwarf citrus trees are especially suited for container growing as they can be kept at manageable .... Yellowing leaves most often indicate lack of fertilizer or poor drainage.

I need to know how to treat pecan tree fungus, any ideas? I don't see why I have to add more info.

Scab is the most common and damaging pecan disease. It is caused by a fungus that affects rapidly growing leaves, shoots, and nuts. Symptoms on all plant parts are similar. Velvety olive-brown to black spots occur on the husks. Several spots may develop to form black blotches or may blacken the entire surface of the husks. Severely affected nuts of susceptible varieties may drop prematurely or they may stop growing, die and remain attached to the shoot. Leaf symptoms first appear on the underside as tiny olive-brown lesions on the veins. Later, leaf symptoms appear on the upper surface as small olive-brown to black spots. Severely infected leaves may be shed prematurely and weaken the tree, thus reducing the crop next year. The most practical method of scab control is to plant varieties having some degree of resistance to scab such as: Desirable, Cape Fear, Elliott, Chickasaw, Gloria Grande, and to a lesser extent, Stuart. Varieties severely affected by scab are Schley, Mahan, Success, Van Deman, and Mohawk. Use of "resistant" varieties does not necessarily assure complete absence of the disease as no variety is totally resistant. If possible, removing and destroying all leaves and husks may help reduce the amount of scab the following year.
A spray schedule is available for growers who have spray equipment adequate to cover the trees, or for growers who hire custom spray applicators. The following fungicides are registered on pecans: benomyl (Benlate 50WP), propiconazole (Orbit 3.6EC), fenbuconazole (Enable 2F), and thiophanate methyl (Topsin-M 70WSB). Spray applications should be made every 2-3 weeks beginning when leaves first emerge until shell hardening (early August). Spray at 2-week intervals when the tree is growing rapidly or during wet periods. Check fungicide labels for restrictions on grazing in sprayed orchards and the need to use tractors with enclosed cabs while spraying.
