Your TV does support Audio Return Channel (ARC). Try connecting your Bluray player to HDMI 2 and your sound bar to HDMI 1(ARC). You will need to make sure that VIERA link is turned on in the Setup menu of the TV.

When the camera is turned on and the 16-105 DT 3.5-5.6 zoom is attached there is a repeated clicking sound that continues until the camera is turned off. A sony camera salesman indicated it was the lens. ...

I had the same problem with my SAL-16105. It turned out that inside the lens the FOCUS DIFFERENTIAL RING (Artnr.: 321020202) was broken. The camera tries to move the focus from one end to the other when it is turned on (probably to check the functionality), but as the ring is broken, focus will never reach its end-point. Thus the camera continues to try to turn the mechanics futher until either the gear on the lens ring or one of the gears inside the lens will jump, making the clicking sounds. Another reason might be that one of the brushes ("focus brush") inside the lens that are used to signal the position of the focus to the camera electronics is damaged. (This might even lead to the mechanical destruction of the focus differential ring I think). I was able to repair my ring, but as I had to glue it, after a few months it failed again. I'm waiting for a replacement ring now.

SONY DSC-W310/B Digital camera has got a problem.. the lens are coming outside and going inside repeatedly.. and at lasts it asks to turn off it and turn on it again... what to do now with that?????

This is probably a lens issue. Dirt, dust, lint, and sand can work it's way into the assembly, and slightly jam up the gears that drive it. There are some things you can try to get it working again, and the following web blog describes what you can do:
http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html
Also, make sure the battery terminals inside the camera are clean, and not oxidized (use a qtip and alcohol or a pencil eraser to clean them). Also make sure the battery is charged.
If none of these things work, you might have a damaged gear inside the lens assembly. You can get an estimate from a camera repair shop, but it's often just better to buy a new one, or good used one, due to the high cost of repair.
Also, you contact Sony to find an authorized service center convenient to you:

My camera lens won't go back in and is making weird noises.

Since you said it makes noise when you turn it on, the gear system controlling the lens might be faulty. have it checked.

Tape not ejecting from drive after 60 secs pressing eject button. I can hear it 'clicking' but no attempt to eject the tape is made. I would be very grateful for some advice regarding what I might do next.

can you detail the model No or compaq spares No for the drive - the clicking makes it sound to me like a DAT but unable to proceed without more info.

If it is a DAT (compaq used both Sony and HP mechs) try disconnecting the scsi cable from the scsi card, rebooting the drive and trying again.

If that doesnt work try a 00pt screwdriver in the manual eject point of the drive and unload manually (about 1000 turns!)

Failing that try www.tape-drive-repair.com as they are pretty good price wise for a repair / exchange

Weird clicking noise, can't record

Hi,
It sounds like the internal hard drive has failed especially if this happens when you try and record a program, this will be the clicking sound that you can hear.
If the unit is fine until you try and record the i am in no doubt that it is the hard drive and it needs to be replaced.
Most new recorders have three and half inch IDE/ATA hard drives in them but it is a good idea to check first before you commit to purchasing a new one.

Regards.

Weird noises, not recognized by laptop

Hi,

This is a common problem with hard drives. Most hard drives (whether external or internal) that produces a "weird clicking noises" indicates a mechanical problem. Often this is the head arm trying to move from its position but failing to do so. What you are hearing as "weird clicking noises" are when it slaps back to its park position or when trying to move into correct position.

Should this be the case, am afraid that the HD is a goner. The normal course of action is to replace. If the data inside are mission critical, your only course of action is to avail of those data recovery by firm specializing in such but they are rather expensive.

Trying to use "data recovery software" might prove to be futile since as earlier stated, the problem is mechanical in nature.

You can of course still give it a try.

Should you feel adventurous, would be willing to experiment and gamble, pls post back as I may have not a permanent solution but a "down & dirty" trick of making it run long enough hopefully to get some of your data back. Again, this is a "hit or miss" and should only be considered if all else fails and you really want to get your files back.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back as requested, how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
