Hi,

Thanks for using FixYa!

I've worked with Dell tech support for a year and whenever we get this kind of problem ( No power when AC adapter is connected ) the culprit is usually loose power terminal or bad battery. If you have a spare battery and it still doesn't charge or turn ON with that. Then you've already isolated the problem. You have a loose power terminal. If your laptop is still under warranty, you'd better contact dell right away. They will give you free troubleshooting and service for that problem. If your laptop is out of warranty. You might want to just bring it to a local shop and have the power terminals re-soldered.

Have a nice day.

Lattitude d520 I buy a new ac adapter, and the battery dont charge. I put the battery in other lattitud and it charge. I think my Lattitud d520 is not charging. What may be the problem?

If the battery and AC adapter work fine on a different D520 then you have an issue with the charging circuit on the motherboard. Could also be the DC adapter jack soldered to the motherboard.

I have a Dell D520 and it currently says plugged in not charging 0% available. I bought a new battery thinking that this was the problem about a week ago. However it again says the same thing. As long as I...

It would that you have a low powered AC adapter. The wattage output of the adapter will cause the problem you are having. Try shutting the laptop down, not suspend, and letting it charge over night. This should charge the battery. I have found that an underpowered adapter will not power both the laptop and charge the battery. You may want to check in the battery compartment for the adapter part number and see if you are using the correct one for your laptop. Please let me know how it goes.

My Dell D520 is not charging, but instead running on AC power... Right now it has 3% battery left, but it is not charging, instead it is working on AC power, like it does when it has 100% power... Please...

Make sure that you are using the correct AC Adapter. Dell usually supplies two different ones. They look very much the same. The difference is the amps. One is meant to be used in their port replicator. Look in the BIOS and make sure you have the setting correct for charging the unit.

Has power but wont boot up at all inspiron b130 notebook, was working fine 4 days ago ,

There could e a problem with the battery. A fast check to determine whether you have a problem with the power adapter, power cord or the laptop's battery is to turn off the laptop, remove the battery, connect the power adapter, turn on the laptop & see if it works.
If the laptop works directly from the power adapter with the battery removed, then the power adapter is good. In this case we can suspect that the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.

Try also to reseat the main components of the notebook: the battery, the AC adapter, the memory modules, & the hard drive.
After that try switching it on & see if the problem was fixed.
