SOURCE: Nortel NetDirect error on Vista

Hi kt_rutherfor, Firstly apologies for my late reply. I thought that this was going to be a firewall problem, but looking at your error again, I now dont think that. So I'm afraid that I dont know the answer to this, I do have an idea, after researching the problem that this is a Remote-NDIS host problem. Your Uni should be able to help you with this even if it isn't at there end.

Again sorry for not being able to help

SOURCE: oki3400n - how to assign a static ip address

I found this post via Google trying to solve the similar problem with C3200n.

>> this will then cause problems as all the pcs that are trying to print to this
>> printer will no longer be able to find the printer.

Originally, I also had this problem (with C200n, but it is probably similar). If I recall correctly, I solved it as follows:

1. Open the OKI LPR UTILITY from the machine you are trying to print from.
http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/4552/okilprutility2009080217.png

2. Choose Option > Setup
http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/9641/setup20090802171057.png

3. Make sure that the Auto Reconnect checkbox is checked.

Again, I believe that is what I did to solve that I couldn't print after power outages etc. The IP is not static, but it still solves the problem.

---------
Static IP

Today I wanted a static IP for my OKI C3200n because sometimes there would be conflict between the IP for my printer and another machine in the house with a static IP.

What I did was the following.

1. In the printer menu locate the NETWORK MENU
http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/6889/dscn0525e.jpg

2. Go to the IP ADDRESS SET option, change from AUTO to MANUAL
http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/6122/dscn0526x.jpg
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/7987/dscn0527j.jpg

3. Go to the IP ADDRESS OPTION, change to the desired ip address. In my case it was at 10.0.0.5, but I wanted 10.0.0.6 for the printer, so I changed it to that. Typically this is either 10.0.x.x or 192.168.x.x

http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/4407/dscn0528p.jpg
http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/1669/dscn0529r.jpg

4. Press the online button. The printer will reset the network connection (it took approx 1 minute)
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/2539/dscn0530.jpg

5. This should be enough. You can try to ping the printer at the new IP, or navigate to the new IP in your browser:

SOURCE: cannot connect to open wireless network Invalid IP Address

Either the network requires you to manually configure your ip settings(unusual but not unheard of) or your wireless adapter is not set to get settings from DHCP. Check to verify that your wireless adapter is set for DHCP and if this is correct then you'll need to contact the administrator for the wireless AP and haver them check their settings.

What is the IP address for my Firestick?

The IP address of an item, unless you specifically assign it one, is done automatically by the router when it connects to the network. This address can be different each time the device connects depending upon what other devices are already connected.

How do i format my DSL2730B modem/router using a mac?

same way ...type the router address into the browser ..like this: http;??192.168.1.0 ...or whatever the router address is ...(IP) after that a page for log into setting will appear ...and to get there usually have to use the word admin for both ..user and password..Once inside the settings ..just set the router internet connection same way you set the internet directly on your computer ..if you have a modem it will be the automatic assign an ip address..in the tcp/ip protocol ..and if you have a static IP ..choose static..and manually set the IP ..sub-net mask ..default gateway ..and the dns servers just like the one provided by the ISP ..(internet service provider)
this way you set the connection to the internet of the wlan port ...
The computers will plug into the ports..and will have an automatic assign Ip address (obtain an IP address auto...set on the lan card tcp/ip protocol )..except on the manuallly configuration the IP address will be one in the range set in the router..usually in order of the p[orts..with the last digit of the IP ...in uprising order...ex..the first port IP will be 192.168.1.1 if the ip is the one I used for example earlier...and so on ...xxxxxxxxxx2 ;xxxxxxxxxx 3
the thing to remember in case you make the settings manually for the protocol ..is that the subnet mask will be 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway will be the router's IP address ..and the dns server will be the one from the provider..or if you have a modem too..will be the modem's IP address

Need ip address subnet mask number gateway number and dns server number

If the ip address you need is the Internet IP address, this is assigned by you service provider.
If you need an internal ip address, have a look in the modems configuration window.
This window is accessed using internet explorer and typing in the local address of the modem, usually this is 192.168.1.1 so enter this number. If this does not work, go to the modem manufacturers website and in the support section should be the manual (if you dont have one) and in the manual will be the ip address to access the modems configuration pages.
You must undertake these steps with your PC connected to the modem using a network cable, this will not work if you try this using a wireless link.
Usually, the admin and password details are admin admin. So type admin in the name section and admin in the password section.
Once you access the configuration area, navigate to the DHCP area and turn DHCP on.
DHCP stand for Dynamic Host Control Protocol. This simply gives an internal ip address to all the machines connected to the network.
Once this is done, save and reboot the modem and your PC.
Next, click on start and then run and enter CMD into the run dialog box.
When the text window opens, type in : ipconfig /all
dont forget the space between ipconfig and the / symbol
This will give you a list, in this list is the gateway ip address etc.
Usually, the DNS address is assigned automatically by your service provider but if not, you may have to contact them to get this number.
If you are trying to connect a second PC to the modem, all these details will be entered for you as long as you have "Obtain ip addresses automatically" ticked in the properties window of network connections. This is under the network connections applet in control panel. make sure everything is set to automatic.

No ip address on computer

IP addresses are generally assigned when you connect to another networking device such as a router, switch, or modem. You should first go to your Network Connections and right click on your networking device and click on properties. Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and hit properties. Then click on the box that says Obtain IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically. Now when you make connection with the router, switch or modem it should assign you an IP address. If this doesn't happen then you need to check your network cable, or wireless log in proceedure to find out why you're not connecting. These rules aren't for all systems. Some ISPs may require you to put in DNS servers and IP addresses. If the above doesn't help then contact your ISP to find out if there are specific settings. You can also view your Network Configuration settings by going to "Start" > "Run" cmd then in the window type /ipconfig /all. If you're connected properly you should have IP address, default gateway, DNS server and DHCP servers.

Cant connect laptop to cable modem

OK based on the IP address you've given me I can tell that your network card is not getting an IP from the cable modem. The IP you have there is automatically assigned by windows in the absence of a proper DHCP server.

You have 2 options now you can try to manually assign the IP address and connect to the modem or if u have the CD that came with it you can connect to it using a USB connection (most modems have a usb port) and configure the modem manually to give you an IP or at least see what address range it is using and configure your PC to suit.

If you don't have the CD and USB and you want to manually assign an IP address to your PC most modems tend to use 1 of 3 address, you can try either:
192.168.1.1
192.168.0.1
10.0.0.1
to connect to the modem (if you use a ping command from the command prompt with any of the above addresses the one that replies is the ip of ur modem)

and manually configure your PC network card with either
192.168.1.25
192.168.1.25
10.0.0.25

Its a little technical i know but you should be able to do it
Hope this helps you.

If this doesn't work we can try a "tracert" command next to see if we can determine the modem IP

I can not get on line

When you plug in the network cable, ensure it is plugged in correctly to the network card and into one of the router's ports at the other end. The LINK light should light up at either end (computer end and a tthe router) and flash when data is being sent or received. Then on your computer, (for Win2000/XP) go t Start, Settings, Network connections, "Local Area connection" for your card, then click on "Properties" then scroll and double click ''internet protocol' then select obtain ip address automatically. this will assign your computer with an ip address given from the adsl modem. all other settings will then assign automatically as well which should give you access to the internet thereafter. What you could also try is from one of your working wireless computers / laptop, see what IP address and gateway addresses have been assigned by the DHCP host (automatic IP address assigner), to helpyou work out where the address is coming from, it should be coming from the adsl modem. check your address by going to Start, settings, network connections, local area connection, then click on the support tab.

Ip and proxy error

well, if you know how to setup the ip addresses manually both on your modem / router and on the ps3 i recommend you do that... but bear in mind that your dhcp server (on your modem / router) should prohibit automatic assignment of that same ip address with your ps3... for that you have to specify a range of automatically assignable ip addresses apart from your ps3...

if you have the dmz (demilitarized zone) option on your modem / router, set it up for the ip address of your ps3, which you've setup manually...

example:

router ip: 192.168.2.1
ps3 ip: 192.168.2.10
ip address pool: 192.168.2.100 - 192.168.2.250 (this shpould be manually setup not to interfere with the fixed ip address of the ps3)
dmz host: 192.168.2.10 (ip address of the ps3, which enables "opens" all of the ports for this ip address)

apart from that if you use any proxy servers to connect to the net, you have to specify these in ps3 settings as well...

there are a lot of threads on various forums on how to tweak your network connection to optimize for ps3...

i hope this solves your problem...
