Cast On. This is what you use to start your project. You basically have two needles and a piece of yarn, Casting on creates the first row of stitches.

SOURCE: What does KO mean in the knitting pattern Bernat softee Baby pom pom booties

I do not know what kind of pattern that is. If it is an old pattern then it is probably Knit Off. If it is a newer one most likely it is Knit zero.

I don't understand when the pattern says 1st and 2nd rows set pattern Keeping continuity of pattern as set work 32 rows more. it does not look at all like the picture of the blanket I am knitting.

Depends on what the pattern stitch is. What it usually means is that the 2 rows form the pattern. that is, you keep knitting rows one and two until you reach the end. Depends on how many rows you have done already. It's sometimes difficult to see the finished pattern until you have knit a lot of rows. good luck

Morning, I am trying to knit a pattern which bought CHICK Baby 4 ply Code 11.075 and am unsure of the abbreviation SY2K. As I am knitting the number of stitches just increases all the time. thanks

SY2K, means slip yarn, knit 2 together. Or yarn over needle and knit 2 together. This means you are not increasing only making pattern

What does the abbreviation SKTPO in knitting stands for?

The abbreviation explanations should be included in your pattern instructions. Pattern designers sometimes use different abbreviations so it is best to refer to the included instructions.

What does knit over mean

Read the pattern again. You may be doing short rows. Buy a more detail knitting book. If you can go to Knit and Crochet Today it's a tv show that has a website they have experts in knitting and crocheting. Sure there is a demo or someone you can ask to explain in detail. I think the show comes on Thursday in Chicago but its once a week on cable/satellite on pbs.

What does ssk mean in knitting and do you have a list of different meanings for kniting

Slip slip knit or SSK is a basic way to decrease stitches. It makes a decrease that slants to the left and is often paired with knit two together, which is a right-slanting decrease.

To execute this decrease, slip the first stitch as if to knit, slip the second stitch as if to knit, then slide the left-hand needle into the front part of both stitches and knit them together.
