Question about NetGear WGR614L Wireless Router (DHWGR614L100NAS)
Right, this has plagued me for the past month and a half. Heres the story:
I have a tower computer, and on that tower computer, a game called Warcraft III. I've forwarded ports to allow myself to host matches etc for that game, and hosting worked perfectly. No problems at all. I've done this for the past 3 years.
We recently got the computer back from a computer repair shop (Computer had a virus) and everything was working exept for one applicatiom, which generated a code for a certain television box. Basically, the codes wouldnt update (They used to before the computer repair) , so my dad took it to the shop again to see what was up. Also, we purchased a new anti virus (McAfee) which we have used before. I personally hate it because of the resources it uses up and how slow it makes the computer.
So, the computer was taken back because the keygen-application not working and also because the computer was really slow. My dad didnt seem to believe that McAfee was the problem.
The computer guy blamed it on me, saying that a theme I had on Mozilla Firefox and my three games I had on the computer were the problem. He uninstalled the theme and gave us the computer back. Before my dad could get on it, I agreed with him that I would uninstall McAfee and reinstall Avast! since it doesnt make the computer as slow. As soon as I uninstalled McAfee, the computer was up to speed again, as I predicted.
The keygen-app was still down, but apparently it was the site's fault, and my dad found a different way to get the keys he needed.
I thought everything was fine, but apparently not.
Problem then was that when I went to play a game on Warcraft, I couldnt host. I had no idea why and spent a while reconfiguring the ports. I eventually found out that Windows Firewall had stopped it (Which it had never done before) so i allowed it through.
As time went on, i couldnt even play games anymore, since I would get disconnected every time.
One time and I tried to go on my laptop straight after the disconnect to find out a problem, and the internet on THAT had turned off aswell. Same with my Xbox360.
Ever since, I cannot turn on the tower without my whole internet disconnecting. I used to be able to have all three on at the same time but now I can only have the laptop and xbox OR the tower on at one time. Can anyone explain why my internet will turn off if I start the tower with the others on at the same time?
Appreciate it. Sorry if this is a bit confusing or long.
Malwarebytes will remove what the pc engineer missed>>http://www.homepc-security.co.uk/Downloads%20&%20Tutorials.html
Keygens left on a pc can cause a real issue, i personally keep all keygens on a cd when not in use.
Not sure what router you have, but i would reset the router back to factory settings, you can do this by way of a small hole notmally and inserting a pin. Turning it off & back onagain will not reset it. If you do have a router, then the need for the windows firewall is not needed as much. I hope this helps you in some way...
