After you have verified that the solder is good around the DC Jack >>>>
Check MOSFET (Anachip 4407 or Fairchild 4435) near DC JACK
[replace the pair PNP/NPN]
Check MAXIM IC (MAX1999)

Any PC speakers that have a AC plug pak attached can probably use 12V simply cut off the AC plug packs lead that goes to the speakers, and connect up 12V ya should be good to go.. some connect with a Phono Plug, and usually the Outer is Minus Voltage and the Centre is Plus Voltage .. they are also generally Diode protected so a reversal shouldn't cause too many probs... THE ANSWER TO MY QUESTION WAS FOUND OUT BY MYSELF BY VISITING A REPAIR / SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND MAKING ENQUIRIES CONCERNING THE DC OUTPUT OF THE AC ADAPTER ASSOCIATED WITH THE WESTERN DIGITAL, MY BOOK 250GB USB. tHE VOLTAGES ARE THESE. : - AC INPUT = 100 - 240 VOLTS 50/60 HZ
DC OUTPUT = 12 VOLTS ( REGULATED ) 2 - 0 A
CENTER PIN OF 12 VOLT DC INPUT PLUG IS " POSITIVE "
