Tv won't turn on

High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits. 7 blinks to standby light indicates this. If you wish to get some details, http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Pull up older posts.

First step is go to your thermostat and turn the Fan switch from AUTO to the ON position, if the indoor blower runs you have proven that you have both high and low voltages and no need to check breakers, and fuses both high and low voltage.

If the Fan does not come on then you need to determine whether you have high and low voltage, the high voltage may have a time delay fuse as well as a beaker, these fuses are located at the electrical disconnect typically within 3 feet of the unit, inside it in a plug/fuse holder that must be replaced in the correct position as 180 degrees off = OFF or no power.
If you do have high voltage the next thing to check is the 24 volt control voltage from the transformer in the heater.
There will typically be a 3 to 5 amp automotive type fuse located on the circuit board located in the heater, this is often the reason for no 24 v control voltage.
These 2 diagrams demonstrate a heat pumps wiring. if split type system.

Insignia 32" lcd will not turn on

The standby part of this set's power supply provides voltage 7-24 for the remote to work via the microprocessor and also will provide voltage for the mechanical relay if there to fire the main power supply.

Lg 42 in lcd tv turns it self off

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.5_14_2012_1_10_46_pm.jpg

Tv turn off after switching on from standby mode

THE set has a standby power supply that runs 7/24 if set is plugged in--if that does not have bad caps etc it switches the main supply on and voltages etc come on and stay on CAN BE CHECKED WITH A METER OR if something is pulling voltages down it has to be searched for.

A 37 inch insignia tv won't turn on after i plug my laptop for some music.then after unplugging my laptop it won't turn on.please give me best possible answer.( tv is about 2 years old)

This is the basic guide that can be applied to most LCD flat panel TV.

First, try unplugging it from the outlet for about an hour to see if the TV will reset itself since the minute the TV is plugged into the wall, the power supply and processor will be running 24/7 and the EPROM can get corrupted by spikes and surges. Try using good quality surge suppressor to see if it will help if it happen often.
Look for burnt brown hot spots on the circuit boards, capacitors with leaking/bulging top or seals. Loose wires and connectors. Blown fuses.
Notes: We are dealing with high voltage that can kill you! so if you are not sure what you are doing, please have it fixed by the pro that has proper tools and safety equipment. Try to use GFI outlet and isolation transformer when work around the TV set and DO NOT DEFEAT THE GROUND PIN OF THE OUTLET/POWER CORD.

1)The power supply module (There are 4 regulated output voltages:- Standby 5vdc, switched 5vdc, 12~16vdc, and 24vdc).

The power supply converts the 120/230vac 50/60Hz into DC, then the high frequency (50~100kHz) switching circuits convert it back to AC but at high frequency which allows the power supply to use smaller and much lighter weight transformers (Ferrite core instead of heavy iron core), then this high frequency AC voltage is fed to the rectifier Diodes to get the DC output and filtered by DC filter capacitors that must have low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance), if general purpose electrolytic caps are use, they will fail within a year or less due to high ESR.

The power supply has Standby 5vdc (5VSB, this is a MUST have before anything else will work, when this voltage is not present, there will be no any indicator light on the front panel) which is always on the minute the TV is plugged into the AC outlet, so it is on 24/7 and that is why the power supply will fail even though you may use the a TV not very often. It will see all the voltage spikes and surges 24/7.
This 5vdc is used to power the Processor and the Infrared remote receiver module which will be waiting for the command from the remote control or from the power switch, when the Power on command is received, the Processor will send the turn on signal (3.3~5vdc) to the power supply module (PSON pin) to the switch on the main 5vdc for the rest of the logic and Tuner circuits, 12~16vdc for the sound amplifiers (mostly Class D amplifier for efficiency and small size) and for the T-CON board (interface board between the LCD panel and the Logic board), and 24vdc for the Back lights inverter board (if there is no 24vdc then no back light).
Common failures:
Blown main AC fuse due to shorted out Diodes, transistors.
Bad capacitors leaking or bulging tops:
Shorted Diodes, transistors in the DC output side.

Standby light blinks 7 times and tv will not turn on

Hi,

Thanks for using FixYa. Standby light blinking 7 times means high voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. You’ll need to check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
