SOURCE: air coming out the trigger of a stanley air gun

Go to the Stanley Bostitch website. Click on schematics & parts. Find your model number in the drop down list. There is a list of parts and pricing. Just above the parts is a link for the schematic. Honestly, I worked on these things for years. It is best to replace the entire trigger valve. It comes as a kit with instructions grease, and a little tool to hammer your pins out. Lemme know if this helps. Please rate me

SOURCE: I Have a Stanley air compressor Bostitch model

The brown liquid you are getting out of the compressor is water with rust in it from the inside the air tank. Somewhere on the bottom of your air tank there is a valve you need to open from time to time to drain the water from your tank. If you are getting rusty water from the air outlets you probably have a lot of water in the tank. If you can take the compressor outside, with pressure in the tank, where the water won't stain anything and slowly open the valve to drain the tank.

SOURCE: I have a Stanley Bostitch

Some Bostitch compessors are very unique in that they intake air from below the piston. If you cannot find an air filter, then your compessor has reed valve built into the piston that may cause problems. If you have an air filter on the head of the pump, then you have reed valves in the head. When the reed valves fail, there will be very little or no air pressure. Second problem with all compressors is the in-tank check valve. This valve allows air to enter the tank and not back-out into the compressor. Easy to check. Add air into tank with another compressor thru the quick connect and listen for air leaking around the head or pressure switch. If no leaks and pressure holds in the tank then valve ok. Examine the condition of the cylinder and piston ring by rotating the crank by hand so that the piston is at top of cylinder. Look for scratches around upper part of cylinder wall. If scratches, then replace cylinder and piston ring. If top of cylinder looks good, then suspect reed valves. Good luck

I have a Stanley Bostitch CAP2000P-OF Air Compressor. It runs constantly and won't reach the shutoff pressure. It will build some pressure. When I turn it off, I dont hear any leaks.

Jim:
There is a leak somewhere... Use a soapy solution at the air tube from the compressor head to the tank (both ends) and at all air hose connections. The bubbles will tell you where the leak is and you can repair the connections from there...

When I plegged the compressor in the motor turned slow, then stopped. I small puff of smoke came from the motor.

If it does not have an external reset switch, it will have a built in thermal overload that trips and should reset itself when it cools down. If this is an oil type, make sure the compressor is full of oil.

Check the position of the switches and selectors. It sounds like you are in between settings. Also, put in a few drops of oil, and try your gun out on scrap wood, so oil doesn't come out on your good work.
