There is an access panels on some package units. If you cant find the access panel then remove the top. I use a garden house. Make sure to kill the power to the unit before servicing.

SOURCE: Why is it not cooling properly?

You may have a faulty relay on the compressor. A 3 in one replacement will likely resolve this issue unless you have a sealed system leak.

Where are the coils located on a side by side fridge freezer

evaporator coils are either in the top of the food compartment or on the rear walls and the condenser coils are in the rear of the unit. It is the thin evaporator coils that get damaged by incorrect methods of defrosting.

Suction pipe is still freezing up on my walk in freezer

That is most times caused by a restriction in the flow of air over the evaporator coil inside your walk-in. Restrictions will include no defrost taking place or a defective evaporator fan. If low on Freon the ice would only appear at the evaporator first and then reach the suction side of compressor once the evaporator blocks air flow completely. Defective expansion valves can show up with about the same symptom's. If you have more questions let me know and if you should see your model number of the walk-in freezer please list that number so I can get a picture of just what you are working with, Thanks, Sea Breeze

When my ac comes on on a hot day the air smells like mildew?? Does the cabin filter fix that?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. Actually if there is mildew in the system it takes a serious cleaning of the evaporator coil and near by plastic housing / ducting to get rid of the smell. Mildew usually starts forming on the evaporator coil and compartment when the compartment drain gets to be really slow from debris or a dust clog. You can try filters and air fresheners but all they will do is mask the mildew odor. Once the mildew routine starts the only real fix is a serious cleaning of the evaporator coil, compartment and nearby air ducting. Often it takes a good mild and mildew remover to get rid of the problem completely. The evaporator compartment will for sure have to be opened up. If a service shop is going to do the cleaning job correctly they will most likely pump out the freon in the AC system and remove the evaporator coil for proper cleaning. It is not a cheap fix as it is labor intensive and requires the AC system to be drained and re-serviced. Demand that they clean the compartment drain during the cleaning process. My comments are what it really takes to purge the mildew from the AC system correctly. Your call as to fix it or live with it.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Hello
You may try cleaning the evaporator filter,Also cleaning the outside coil or condensor,Simple green works good for cleaning coils and a garden hose.

Also cleaning the evaporator may help.
When unit is running properly the evaporator should feel cool and wet from top to bottom.
Last, the unit could be low on freon.

Nor-Lake walk-in cooler water leak

The evaporator drains into pan with a coil from the discharge line. The design is intented to sub-cool the liquid refrigertant as well as evaporate the condensation from the coil. Unfortunately the engineer started as career a shipping clerk and never received any further training.  There isn't enough heat or running time to evaporate the condensation from the coil.
The solution is fairly simple
A plastic tube  drains water out of the evaporator in the pan. You can extend the tube and add a defrost pan handled by your refrigeration wholesaler. Wire it so it is on whenever there is power to the unit.  This should get rid of the excess water. These pans are also used on some self contained coolers and freezers. They come in either 120 volts or 220 volts. kasgirls@tds.net

Inadequate cooling on walk in freezer

YES GOOD ADVISE . ALWAYS START WITH THE BASICS. IS EVAPORATOR COIL CLEAN AND CLEAR? ALL EVAP FANS RUNNING? DRAIN PAN CLEAR? IS STAT CALLING FOR COOL? IS OUTDOOR COND COIL CLEAN? IS OUTRDOOR FAN RUNNING WITH NO PLAY IN BUSHING? DO RUN AND START CAPS TEST GOOD? DOES CONTACTOR LOOK GOOD? THEN TRY TO CATCH UNIT WHEN TEMP IS ABOVE DESIRED SETTING. FIRST TEST STAT. IS IT OPEN OR CLOSED? IF BOX IS HOT AND ITS OPEN THEN PROBLEM IS STAT. IF STAT IS CLOSED AND OUTDOOR FAN IS NOT RUNNING THEN COMPRESSOR PROBABLY OVERHEATING WHEN FAN QUITS. CHECK FOR VOLTS TO FAN GOT VOLTS? FAN IS BAD. NO VOLTS? TRACK BACK TO SOURCE OF POWER ( CONTACTOR) AN R22 BOX AT 52 PRESS IS NOT TO BAD ON START UP ON A HOT BOX BUT COULD BE HIGH ON 502 408 OR R12 STUFF TYPE OF REF IS DEFINITELY IMPORTANT. GOOD LUCK

Walk-in norlake freezer

Check the evaporator coil for frost buildup on the back. Check for frost on the suction line, the biggest line returning to the compressor. If frost is evident at these places you have a defrost system problem. These systems have a defrost timer that defrosts the coil at preset times. Check the timer for proper operation by marking the position of the dial and check back to see if it changes. If it does not change position the timer motor is most likely bad. If the dial is not rotating automatically you can manually turn the dial in the direction of the arrow and put it through a defrost cycle.

My turbo-air tst72 unit freezes on the inside underneath

First be sure the unit is clean, the condenser coil behind the bottom right grill, I usually find these completely clogged with lint and grease this adversely effects the refrigerant regulation to the evaporator coil by not being able to remove heat at the condenser.
Second be sure that the evaporator inside the cooler has an unobstructed air flow, because whether there is air flow or not the coil will continue to absorb energy so if there is no air to cool it will begin freezing water on the coil.
Third if there is proper airflow then it pobably has an incorrect refrigerant charge, it must be evacuated and the correct refrigerant type and amount weighed in.
