SOURCE: Bad power board Planar PL2010M

There is a supplier of power boards online, you can google them with numbers from the board but I don't suggest using them. Look for information on the company also. I've seen a lot of complaints for this "international" company.

The fix for most of the problems on these monitors is about $8 on new capacitors (Plus shipping).

First check that you are getting a strong 12V from the external power adapter. If so, the problems may be as simple as changing out a few capacitors.

On the PL2010M monitors you need the following parts. I've added digikey part numbers to make life easier:

P10271-ND 220UF 25V Capacitor (3 or 4 depending on PS)
P10275-ND 470UF 25V Capacitor (1)
P10221-ND 470UF 10V Capacitor (4)

If you're not comfortable with soldering and de-soldering electronics, take it to a local technitian for the work and give them the parts list above. That should work to fix your issues. I've fixed several of these monitors so far. All the problems were related to the power supplies having bad capacitors. Same with the Planar PL1700 LCD monitors.

Good luck!

Amber light on means standby voltage is high. IF amber light does not go white when power button is pushed the its one of two things.
A. No power on command from main board. Usually labeled PS-On. Should go high from 3.3v or maybe 5volts. If not present Main is defective.

B. If the ps-on line is going high then your problem is a defective power supply.

Why is the green led blinking on my M3N72-D motherboard

The flickering green LED on the motherboard is illuminated by the standby power supply, a small completely independent, always on, 5 volt power supply labeled 5VSB usually, output is on the violet wire.

Here's some more detailed instructions about how to check a PSU.

Try to borrow a known good PSU of around 550 - 600 watts. That will power just about any system with a single GPU. If you cannot do that, use a DMM to measure the voltages. Measure between the colored wires and either chassis ground or the black wires. Yellow wires should be 12 volts. Red wires: +5 volts, orange wires: +3.3 volts, blue wire : -12 volts, violet wire: 5 volts always on. Tolerances are +/- 5% except for the -12 volts which is +/- 10%.

The gray wire is really important. It should go from 0 to +5 volts when you turn the PSU on with the case switch. CPU needs this signal to boot.

My lcd tv wont come on but the stadby light is on ?

Hi.

The TV starts in forced standby. The state is also called "Protect Mode". Protect mode kicks in whenever an internal fault is detected. The error is detected by controller circuit and the PSU is forced in standby mode, shutting down all voltage lines apart 5VDC to keep standby on.

First try disconnecting the power cord for ten minutes, reconnect after ten minutes and restart the TV with no device connected.

If that does not help it means that there is an internal fault and that the TV must be tested and repaired replacing the defective part.

The defective part is usually the PSU. Among components that fail quite commonly there are the capacitors on the power board. If the capacitors look swollen or if there is trace of damage on PSU board, then the affected parts must be de-soldered and replaced. If there is no evidence of damage at a glance the parts must be tested using a multimeter and following schematics from service manual.

If you need to call a technician use the phone number listed on the owners manual or on the manufacturer support web page.

Power LED is On but system doesnot start ?

hello, I have a solution for u i think it may help for u.
your problem is:

When u press the start button... the power LED comes on but there is no POST beep or BIOS screen or boot up. The SMPS fan and Processor fans also dont come on at all. there is a small LED next to the SMPS plug on the motherboard that does light up when the system is connected to a power source.
Part of the system configuration is the kind of PSU you have in your system.
SOLUTION IS
So, what kind of PSU?

Try to borrow a known good PSU. Or better yet, see if you can test your PSU in another working system. If you cannot do that, try to borrow a DMM to measure the voltages. Yellow wires should be 12 volts. Red wires: +5 volts, orange wires: +3.3 volts, blue wire : -12 volts, violet wire: 5 volts always on. The gray wire is really important. It should go from 0 to +5 volts when you turn the PSU on with the case switch. CPU needs this signal to boot.

You can turn on the PSU by completely disconnecting the PSU and using a paperclip or jumper wire to short the green wire to one of the neighboring black wires.

This checks the PSU under no load conditions, so it is not completely reliable. But if it can not pass this, it is dead.

Has sound and no picture

Hi.
Ensure you have alredy disconnected power and left TV not connected for at least one hour.
If it is a rear projection model it can be a problem with optical group, video or ballast board. In this TV however this problem is not common, usually the TV goes in standby.
On LCD the problem is often caused by a faulty inverter, in some case bad controller board or PSU with no volt on inverter line to controller board (higher DC voltage). In some LCD inverter is on same board with PSU. Most common is inverter.

Ibm netvista x41 wont power up

measuring 12v at the psu is not enough. the psu have several voltage outputs ranging from 12volts to 3.3 volts and maybe even 2.2 volts.. firstly, check all onboard USB ports, a bent or shorted pin in a USB port will prevent the psu from operating. next, the psu has a safety connection to the mainboard, this is called the power good signal ( pwrgd) and it is a signal from the psu to the mainboard and tells the mainboard that everything in the psu is functioning correctly. If the powergood signal is lost ( drops from 5volts to zero volts) the mainboard will issue an interuppt to the cpu and the cpu will shut down, this will also shut the board down to prevent damage and data loss. mainboards all use pretty much the same connectors so your board will have either a 20 pin power connector or a 24 pin one. It may also have an additional 4 pin connector to power the cpu and northbridge functions. use a known good psu and plug this into your board along with the 4 pin connector and attempt a switch on. If the system begins to boot, replace the psu. if not, try unplugging or removing everything connected to the board, pay special attention to expansion cards and usb ports. remove the ram sticks and video cards if fitted, then attempt to boot again. if the system does not respond, replace the main board. if it now begins to boot, refit everything one item at a time and try starting the machine. turn off before refitting the next item and start the machine up again. when you get to the problem item, the machine will stop starting. If all else fails, replace the mainboard or take the machine to a reputable repairer..
