FUC% the protection light

I have a soundstorm two channel F2800 amp, and it was working or 4 weeks. Then the protection light came on and i checked all the wires and fuses and there all good. I have no idea what went wrong. When i restart the system it will go to power for a second, and it will work for like 1 second then it goes right to protection.

I had a similar problem with my amp (although a different brand). Check you ground connection and make sure it's not grounded to metal with paint covering it. This is NOT a solid ground connection. You must remove the paint then reconnect it. Without a solid connection to ground, it cant run for very long without going into protection mode. Hope this helps

Gos in to protection mode as soon as you aplly power

Check for a short circuit in the wiring of the output speakers or a shorted speaker voice coil, also check for correct voltage to the POWER AMP while in use... when an AMP goes in protective mode this means two things A SHORTED OUTPUT or A INCORRECT VOLTAGE TO THE POWER AMP. if all the above is OK than the AMP is defective. are you using correct speakers OHMAGE 4, 6 8ohms??? according to your AMP.

Good luck!

Soundstorm amp

Your D-SERIES amplifier was designed to operate efficiently at loads down to 2 Ohms.
This means that you can install four 8 Ohm speakers per channel when using parallel wiring.
of an additional 10W to each speaker.
Please note: The gain control of any car audio amplifier should not be mistaken for a volume
control. It is a sophisticated device, designed to match the output level of your audio source unit to
the input level of the amplifier . Do not adjust this input level to maximum unless your input level
requires it. Ignoring these instructions will result in an input overload to the amplifier, and excessive
2 Ohm Operation
front panel will be illuminated, indicating the amplifier has gone into a self-preservation mode.
these conditions before attempting to power up the amplifier again.
When operating at 2 Ohms, the amplifiers will increase their output power by approximately 50%. The
current draw will so increase by about the same amount, also be sure you have enough current to
run the amplifiers into a 2 Ohm load. If you lack adequate current, your music reproduction will be
distorted.
Increasing the number of woofers per channel at low frequencies (up to 100MHz) produces an acoustic
coupling effect. This acoustic coupling increases your power output by 3 dB per speaker, or the equivalent
audio distortion. It can also cause the protection circuit to engage.

Sounds like you have lost the power amp transistor(s) or IC for this channel.

The most common cause for this is shorted output transistors.

My amp!!

okay, 200 x 4 means 800Watts now that should be the peak RMS which is how it regularly works "STABLE" should be 400 or 100rms per chanel, find speakers of 100 rms to get e clean sound wave. If you can bridge it get you two 200 rms speakers.

I dont know how many watzz is my amP!

200 X 4 does mean 200 watts times 4 channels. In other words each channel pushes out 200 watts. I believe u have a total output power of 800 watts but check with ur manual and if u do use that much power make sure you check for overheating, specially if its used for bass. Soundstorm amps cant take much of a beating so be careful.

Soundstorm 1600 Watt Car Amp

Disconnect all speaker wires and signal cables from the amp. If it powers up, the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down, the amp likely has blown output transistors.
