SOURCE: Fridge/Frezer stop working

Can you tell if the compressor (black soccer ball looking thing in the rear of the unit) is running? Is it really hot? Is the little fan running near it? If the compressor isn't running it won't cool. Also check that the coil in the freezer section isn't frozen solid blocking all air flow inside the unit. The other thing is that the defrost cycle may be "stuck" so it thinks it should be defrosting (therefore not running the compressor, etc.) Lots of things to check but that info will help decide which way to go so post what you find please.

My fridge freezer is less than 2 years old and the freezer is not working could it still be under warrenty?

If your fridge is self defrosting then you probably have a stuck defrost timer motor/switch. I can usually be found on the bottom of the front ourside of the fridge. You can try to advance it with a screw driver until you hear a click and once you do hear that click the fan and the compressor should turn on. Ifthey do then you will need to have the defrost timer replaced. After two years I doubt it is in warrenty. The only things that should be in warrenty is the compressor and all of the related tubing in the hermedically sealed unit..

I have had this problem many times and since I am a retierd HVAC engineer I was able to fix these defrost timers, mainly the actual motors that had dried bushings. You would first have to take the timer apart and get into those bushings and use a small amount of a good light oil like 3 in 1 oli. That usually does the trick.

Hope this helped you. If it did then would you please let me know, I would be courious to know.

Good luck,

Marty

Club pogo games

There are free Pogo games and then extra games that you pay about $40/year for Club Pogo.To get that membership free you can collect "Coke Points" for buying Coke products and quite a few more products that participate in Coke Points.

My daughter gets points for recycling her regular trash in Washington, DC and she buys me a membership each year with those. Ask around and see what your local neighbors do..

Right front burner only works on "small element". Large element will not come on. Do i need a new burner?

Hi Will Lawler - If the small element turns on but the large element does not, then more than likely, the range has a faulty burner or switch. If I was in your position, I would personally contact a professional for an accurate diagnosis and to assist with the repairs.

Water collects at bottom/Ice forms in top

Hi,

The defrost drain is located just under the cooling coils in the back of the freezer. You will need to unload the food and remove the shelves from the freezer. Take the back panel off from inside the freezer and you will see a hole just below the coils. Flush it with hot water using a turkey baster or small hose. See the link below for more details.

Water collection in fridge

.you need to check the drain to make sure it is not clogged or blocked that would stop the water defrosted from you evaporator coil from draining into the drain pan.rare occasions the unit will stay in a defrost mode while trying to cool causing alot more water to be draining.good luck with your fridge.let me know how things go for you.

obviously a filter leak. the water shuts off when the filter is removed. either it wasn't installed properly or it has a bad gasket. as for the fridge getting warm, the water probably collected and froze to the evaporator coils and now resrticts the cold air flow. you need to turn off the fridge, empty it out, leave the freezer door open, and let the coils defrost on their own. or remove the back panel in the freezer and defrost the coils with a hair dryer. you will need to soak up some water, but not nearly as much. once it's defrosted, dry it out, close the doors and turn it on while it's empty. when it's cold enough, replace the food.

Water collecting on bottom of 13 year old fridge

All refrigerators create water when their cooling coils shed frost build-up - that water typically collects in a tray under the fridge body through a drainage tube that exits from a collection trough inside the fridge under the coil through the back of the fridge housing.

First check the tray to be sure it is not accumulating food particles which ultimately can produce molds. Clean any water from that tray first, then look for the tube exiting on the back of the fridge see whether there is any moisture at the end of the tube under the fridge and notice whether the tray has had any recent moisture. Chances are the tube is either plugged or similarly any connector through the fridge wall.

Now, be CAREFUL not to puncture the hose or the connector with a sharp instrument however the drain path must be cleared. Try blowing through the drain inside the fridge with a straw, then add a small amount of baking soda into the collection trough, adding a small amount of water to dissolve and allow this to gradually drain out normally. Only detach the outside tube if the problem has not been resolved in this manner. The tube can be replaced easy enough, the connector through the back is another question - see you parts dealer if it has been compromised.

Good luck!

Ariston fridge freezer

hi smyvilla

on some fridge freezers there is a channel which is designed to take condensation from the fridge out through a small hole at the bottom of the back wall of the fridge check this hasnt got blocked or iced over, if the unit is a few years old it is possible that there has been some evaporation or leakage of the coolant mixture, that may be whats on your floor, the pump can therefore no longer pressurise the mixture sufficiently to cause it to remain cold,
