After changing out the lamp in this projector, we noticed that the color went from normal to "scrolling through in waves." It's as though something is flashing through the different color settings very quickly. I have a hunch it's related to the color wheel. Thoughts?

Pls Service the LCD Panels of the Projector, Also check the Fly-Eye lens, just next to Lamp unit. This will solve your problem. if it's not then the only solution is Replacement of LCD Panels, But Must check or replace the external RGB Cable first befor doing all this exercise.

1. How to enter factory menu:
I. Hold press "UP" button until the "Lamp hours info." OSD display on bottom-right of screen.
Press keypad <Power> and <Blank> key simultaneously again, then enter Factory menu.
enter in fan menu and increse the speed of fans.

the "try again after one minute" is a trial. if the new lamp doesn't work, the problem lies with the ballast.

make sure the doors are shut all the way! there is a little button there.

the light filter on the blue lcd panel is fried due to excessive dust and heat. clean out the projector with canned air. unfortunately, you cannot buy individual parts of the optical engine- you'll have to replace the whole thing. or live with it.
