Put a piece of folded tape inbetween the back cover and the battery. I did that and my phone hasn't shut off on me since then. Its doing it because LG apparently can't make back covers that keep the battery in place, so they slide around

My lg neon was doing this too. what i did to fix it is take off the back cover and put a piece of tabe that was rolled over a couple times onto the cover right over the spot where the battery connects to the phone. the backing doesnt push down enough on the battery to the connector so putting something there to keep it pushed in will fix the problem

My LG neon was doing this, too. At first I thought it was because I dropped it. I tried the tape solution, and it didn't work at first. My dad then suggested that I make the tape thicker, and so far so good. Make sure that you make the tape in fourths, or about that thick. If you haven't seen it, place the tape in between the battery and cover. The cover might fall off, so you should find something that will keep it on. It really works!

I litteraly taped the battery to the casing so it would stop the battery from moving around.
Then to test it , I opened it repeatetively a 100 times and gave it a
good beating with my hands.
problem solved.

I wish I had known about - or researched a solution earlier! My Neon - of course - was doing the same thing -- shutting off while sending texts, even though it was fully charged. Or it would be off when I removed it from the case which was clipped to my belt, even though I would use it just minutes before. Needless to say, this was highly frustrating and annoying. The last time, or should I say, the last STRAW was when it shut off while sending a text msg. I turned it back on - it shut off again. I turned it back on - it shut off again. I turned it back on ... 4 TIMES - back to back - it shut off. I wish I had known about the "folded tape" remedy. But isn't this ridiculous that people have to resort to these solutions to solve problems that should have been thought of by LG ?!?!?!

After the 4th time, I was so frustrated I squeezed the phone in my hand and screwed up the display. Yay, anger!

I've had this phone since June, and recently my phone has started shutting down completely - either in text messages, or just at random times. I called the warranty people at AT&T, and they offered a replacement. Seems like this must be a common problem because this issue is all over the Internet.

I tried the tape thing and it didn't work, so I asked my dad what he thought since he knows a lot about electronics. He took an eraser to the contact points between the battery and the phone to clean them. Hopefully that'll work for me and anyone else who still has this problem after trying the tape thing.

My Neon did the same thing... Randomly shut itself off which is very frustrating! I sent it in for repairs twice and each time it came back it was still doing the same thing. The best solution is to get another phone!! Thats what I did, upgraded to an EVE and haven't had any issues yet!

Have you noticed that when you find out someone else has the same problem as you, that it makes you feel better. Life is bearable if you don't have to suffer alone . . . .

  • tbiggity Apr 14, 2011

I tried this too and it worked. Thank god because it shut off 6 times today, I WAS being pretty rough with it just letting it sit there on my desk all neglected and all. So far so good though. PS - Screw you and your crappy product LG.

The horn on my1996 dodge neon keeps going off by itself.

There are 2 possibilities for this to happen. 1. Inside the steering column there is a faulty circuit. 2. The horn relay has an internal fault. The horn works on a grounding type system, which means that +12V is always available to the circuit and when grounding happens at any point it will activate the relay to send the voltage to the horns. So if your horn is randomly going off then there is a temporary grounding action somewhere.
