I have two DSC-W55s

I have two DSC-W55.

One with a broken screen.

One with a lens that is stuck half in and half out.

Which one is easiest to fix (with parts from the second) and can you give me instructions on how to do it.

Thanks

I've got to the point where you say there is ribbon connection. I can see 2, one small one and one much larger.

Do they disconnect from the screnn itself?

The small one might but the bigger one doesn't look like it comes away from the screen.

If it doesn't the ribbon disappears around to the front of the camera and can't see where the connection is.

Screen to good lense is easier Find a set of Jewler screw driver you can find these in Job Lot stores or the expensive snapon dealer drive by. Theb proced to remove the bateries and memory sticks. Now the back of the camera that surounds the frame of the screen take great care and remove the small screw. o9nec the back is off the screen should float out and a ribbon cable in a socket snould be found make sure it is a socket and no a hard wire connection it should slip out from this connector block do the same to the other camera and do the swap.
Replace the back makesure everything aligms and do not force the alignment. It should plop together like mustard in the baby's pants

50 50 they both remove 10 to 1 the side on the circuit boaud does.

The ribbon part that is a flat all the way to the connectes area and all you see is a patch that is glued or fastened and just soldered is permanent look at the other end one of the two has to be a connection and not permament just for easer manufacturer production sake for assembly. The part that is plugged in to looks like an edge connector and that is the unit plug that the ribbon plugs into. Hey you are going to be the one to decide. I can not see the camera machanics here. I can only go by what I seen in other camera electronics. You either end up with a 2 in one camera or two pieces of junk.

I should not have encouraged you by assuming you can recognize a removable part that small. Common scence on your part is 90% of a successful repair. Use a magnifine glass and look closer.

Sony cybershot DSC-W170 lens malfunction

sounds like you have dust, sand of some type stuck in the retracting lense. Ive found someone to tell me to take out my batterys and SD card, then tap the bottom of the camera on a table top. Replace the batteries and power up. Doing this, I was told it loosens up the debri for the lense to retract to close and to open again.

Sony dsc-w55 fell and the lens is stuck

Use bit more force to push or pull the lens as lens has been damaged. If applying bit more force lens goes to working, u saved $$$ otherwise, new lens option is always available at Sony repair shops.
