Question about Dyson Vacuums
Take it to your local vac shop for repair. You have a bad switch most likely. Not too expensive.

My Dyson DC14 had no suction...see if this works...turn the Dyson upside down...there is a length of hose that connects the bottom of the vacuum to the top, careful remove one end of the hose and check for debris...mine was clogged. Removed the clog and voila...it works. Thanks for the above info on checking the hose for cracks.

This is very easy to fix. Assuming nothing has broken off the vacuum, this is simply due to the pivoting elbow on the back of the hoover getting stuck under the latch. It should hook over it.
To fix this problem, please follow these instructions. Please note, these pictures are from a slightly different model, but the process is identical.
1. Switch the power off and unplug the vacuum
2. Recline the vacuum all the way down and lie it on it's left side (left when standing behind it)
3. This is how your catch will look at the moment (circled in red)
Gradually raise the back of the Dyson towards the upright position. As you near the fully upright position lift the spring loaded elbow up:
4. Finish raising the back of the hoover and make sure the elbow hooks over the catch:
This is how it should look when it's done correctly:
5. Stand the Dyson on it's base again and make sure it will stand up on it's own.
If it still wont stand up, make sure it looks like the final image above. If not, repeat the above steps. If it's not possible to hook the elbow over the catch or it repeatedly gets stuck underneath and wont stand up on its own, then it probably needs to be repaired.
Hope this helps. If you have followed the instructions above and still can't get your Dyson to stand up, please post back for further assistance.
