Motorola HC700 Scanner Software

I recently was given a Motorola HC700. I am trying to use the barcode scanner, but am having trouble finding the software to enable it. Will datawedge work with this unit? Thanks

I have tried this. This is not the newest version and I can't get it to work. It tries to load but never actually runs. What specific folder do I need to install the program in? I have installed Datawedge Version 3.0 which actually runs, but I can never get the scan buttons to activate the scanner.

The exact advice this individual wrote came from a website almost exactly copy and pasted. I haved exhausted my resources through searching on google and have resorted to your website's "Expert Advice". Is it possible that I am installing Datawedge incorrectly?

Thanks for your response. I decided to completely reformat the device to see if that will help. I am about to install Datawedge. The instructions for installing are very simple, but I want to get this right. By applications folder, are they referring to the Program Files folder or the Programs folder in the Windows Folder? Also, do I just play the .run file in the Windows/ Start Up folder? Thanks for your help,

    Ryan

I'm sorry but you must have miss read my question. My question was in regard to the mobile device (Motorola HC700) which does not have Windows XP. It has Windows Mobile 5.0. Also, I have tried installing this software every way possible. If you know that it works with my device, please give me a step by step method of installing this program on my Mobile Device. The only version of Datawedge I have been able to install correctly is Version 3.0.

Is Datawedge compatible with a Motorola HC700. If so, which version should I use?

  • ryan_t_slagl Jul 29, 2009

I think you were confused by what I wrote. There must be two Datawedges. One is a company called Datawedge(The one you gave me the phone number for). The other Datawedge is software designed by Symbol(who is now apart of Motorola) to be able to use the scanner on their mobile computers. My problem is with Datawedge (from Symbol not working with my mobile computer, and if it is compatible or not.

Yes, DataWedge should work with this scanner. You can download the latest version here.

To install DataWedge so that it is launched automatically after a cold boot, do the following:

  1. Unzip the DataWedge download package into a temporary folder on your PC
  2. If installing on a Pocket PC device, copy "BinPPCDataWedge.exe" from your PC to the Application folder on the device
  3. If installing on a Windows CE device, copy "BinWCEDataWedge.exe" from your PC to the Application folder on the device
  4. Copy "ApplicationDataWedge.cpy" from your PC to the Application folder on the device
  5. Copy "ApplicationStartupDataWedge.run" from your PC to the ApplicationStartup folder on the device
  6. Cold boot the device (turn off fully, turn on)

I used code128 font but my motorola symbol ls1203 is not reading when i print whats wrong?

Try downloading a proper software demo from www.nicelabel.cl and make a test. If it works, means that you are either using a really bad printer or that your scanner is having problems to read that symbology

Hi, my terminal Motorola MC3190 doesn't want to enable scanner and i really don't know why.... There is an error code A0000032 with message: "CANNNOT ENABLE SCANNER"

The scanner engine/output can be used only by one application. If a second application is trying to access the scanner, while in use. The error message will come.
Please check if there are more applications running in background. Usual MC9090 applications with scanner drivers are Telnet, Datawedge, Rapid Deployment and custom software.

Exit one of the application or try to exit all of them. Start your scanning application again, no error should appear now.

MC9090 won't read any barcodes - brand new device right out of the box. The RFID scanner works fine with Gen 2 tags.

What software are you using to connect to the scanner? If you custom wrote your own software, you will need to download the SDK for the software to interface to the scanner. If you are using a COTS, you can download Datawedge from the Motorola support website. This is a MID software that converts the barcodes into keystrokes. So when your cursor is in a field and you can, the data from the barcode goes into the field.

If this is a new handheld, contact Motorla, you have a year of support, use it. They will be glad to help.

The scanner will not scan any barcodes. The red light lights up but nothing ever happens

The barcode is probably not enabled in factory settings. I would propose to use the manufacturers software called DataWedge, provided at support.symbol.com and check again. If you still have no luck try to find out which kind of barcode is it, by the producer and enable it in the settings of the software. Or better just select the option "Enable All" in the Basic configuration of DataWedge

I have third party software to initiate scanner functions on the Motorola but they do not work. In fact I cannot even scan without using the "Rapid Deployment Client" provided with the hardware. How do I...

DataWedge is an Application provided by Symbol/Motorola to enable the scanning module also for application without the driver. Scanned barcode is sent like an usual keyboard input.
There can be just one active application using the barcode scanner. If you are running DataWedge, you would need to stop it before starting any other application with built-in scanner drivers.
To stop DataWedge just click on the barcode icon in a right down corner and select - Disable DataWedge

My mc3070 motorola scanner won't connect to the internet, or scan any tickets.

MC3070 is equiped with 802.11b/g radio so the WLAN connection should, do you see any WLANs available in the Find WLans dialog?
The Find Wlans dialog can you open through an icon of the Fusion application in the right corner.
For scanning would you need an software, usually is a demo software preinstalled. You could find it in the Application Folder. The demo software is called ScanSample or ScanWedge.
You can also download an application called DataWedge from the support.symbol.com website

Problems with M2004 Barcode Scanner

If your M2004 is connected with an RS-232 cable such as the CBA-R01-S07ZAR or the 25-32465-20R the scanner defaults to sending data at 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, software or hardware handshaking. Is it possible the software needs to see a carriage return after the data? If so, Scan Options, Data Suffix, Enter from Adobe page 135 and 136 of 310 of the M2000 Series Product Reference Guide will make the scanner send a carriage return line feed (7013). If your program needs just a CR then scan the Scan Suffix barcode from page 134 of 310 followed by a 1, a 0, a 1 and a 3 from page 175 of 310.

If this does not help or if you are connected any other way and the CRLF does not help it may be a good idea to contact the Motorola support center for assistance. Their phone number is 800-653-5350.
